According to FOXSports.com he won't be answering questions, just reading a statement, and it will be very controlled who is there. There will be one pool camera there to broadcast it. It's expected that his return to playing will either be at the Tavistock Cup or Arnold Palmer Invitational.

He is coming over to hang Thursday evening, I will let you guys know what is up; after we play some Wii.

Did you ask him who he's coming with?

Good decision Tiger. Better late than never. If he isn't fairly candid, it's going to make it harder for him later IMO.

He really doesn't owe anyone an explaination, nor does he have to answer any questions concerning his personal life. All he needs to do is apologize to the Tour, his sponsors and his fans and tell us when he will be playing next.

I heard someone predict he wont return until his own event at the end of the year

I can only hope this "someone" is not regarded as a golf expert....he will absolutely be back for the Masters, and about 60/40 that he is back for a tune-up tourney before that.

Tiger will say he was wrong, admit his "addiction" and move on....his statement will include his intent to answer "ABSOLUTELY NO" questions about the subject in the future. If Jim Gray (or any other on-course reporter) decides to ask him about his off-course conduct in the future, you better believe Tiger will melt him with his stare and then never speak that person again. The only place he will be peppered with questions is at the Open Championship....because, let's face it, those euro-media guys won't give a flying fukk if Tiger gets pissed at them....

No way. He is a professional golfer. He's going to play golf. Otherwise, he wouldn't be saying a thing right now.

Surely he is preparing the ground for his return to the game. It will be very interesting to see what attitude (to the public) he displays, if any.

It's a load of crap. He's not going to field questions. "Tightly scripted". Only certain media allowed. He's not doing anything he's not in control of. He's a coward.

He's a coward.

Yeah, cuz... you've had to publicly face reporters after the things you've done that you're not proud of.

Look, if reporters were allowed to ask questions, I'd have only two for Tiger: 1) When will you play your next PGA Tour event? 2) How much have you been able to practice lately and how do you think your game is? The rest is irrelevant.

Source: http://web.tigerwoods.com/news/article/201002178086282/news/ Tiger Woods will be speaking to a small group of friends, colleagues and close associates at 11:00 a.m. EST on Friday at the TPC Sawgrass Clubhouse in Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla. Tiger plans to discuss his past and his future, and he plans to apologize for his behavior. While Tiger feels that what happened is fundamentally a matter between him and his wife, he also recognizes that he has hurt and let down a lot of other people who were close to him. He also let down his fans. He wants to begin the process of making amends, and that's what he's going to discuss. His remarks will be open to a press pool for live coverage. It is NOT a news conference.

I guess you don't have children. This guy is supposed to be a role model, like it or not. And he has failed miserably. It's time to show what a real man does. Man up. And yes, I have publicly admitted transgressions and made amends. Didn't do it on television or in the media.....because I'm not a world class, famous athlete!!

Maybe those children should learn to respect peoples' private lives and give them a lesson how creepy our culture is.

You guys don't get it. Why do you put this guy up on a pedestal? He has a gift, he's not God.

Says the guy that Tiger is a role model. I think you're the one putting him up on a pedestal.

I do not like the fact that our society idolizes superstar athletes but that's the way it is and as I work with youth I have to constantly remind them that these guys are fallible. You know, I may feel differently about Tiger after I hear what he has to say but I'm not banking on it. The only thing I think he's probably sorry about is getting caught. If he were to open up and truly show remorse and answer the media's questions about the whole sordid thing, maybe someone could learn from his mistakes. He's taken three months to figure out what to say, hope it's good.

It baffles my why adults don't teach kids to idolize people like Ghandi, MLK, scientists, and the like for their beliefs and contribution to society rather than allowing kids to idolize athletes.

    • Day 37, June 10.  Today was primarily WFH, so I had several practice sessions (indoors, off a mat, into the net).  At least one each of U, 9, and 6-iron full swings with the usual priority.   I also tried a few times a putting type stroke with my 4H, as something I should probably learn how to hit (and what it does), but the mechanical shot at home off a mat doesn't tell me much of what it's doing.  That's something I should probably try on a real green, not during a round until I've tried it.
    • Day 10 (10 Jun 26) - Played in the midweek shootout at my home course - on aerated and sanded greens - day of trying to figure tempo to get the best roll on the greens.  Approach game was decently solid as was shots off the tee.
    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
