I think it's one of the most important things, a true "15th club."

I just recently picked up the Casio FC-100. 210 FPS at 480 x 360 (IIRC) is pretty good.

I've been using the iSwing iphone app. It's great in its design and interface, and the ability to email photo stills of the video. However the high-speed camera quality on the iPhone is limited...

I've been using video for the last couple of years. Improving my game without one today seems like a waste of time. The feedback you get is invaluable, it can save you years of agony. Being able to spot the problems or get help to do so is of course just as important, but getting a camera is a good start. I use Evolvr to get help with analysing and getting tips on what to work on.

Don't care what other people think on the range. Once you see what can be achieved with video taping your swing, you won't hesitate bringing the camera to the range.

I've got a Casio EX-F1 which can shoot 60, 300, 600 and 1200 FPS video. I primarily use 300FPS @ 512x384 pixels. It's expensive, but I bought as a photo camera and video camera. I wanted a DSLR, but got this one instead, not once have I regretted it.

That sounds awesome. I'd love to see a full framerate swing video if you have one uploaded.

Intend on using it at the Range soon.Bit reluctant so far because I've not seen anyone bar the club pro using one there.Don't want people to think I think of myself as some kind of hotshot or something. But I'll bring it along at a quiet time and hopefully be able to get it set up right.

My cell phone shoots at 60 fps which is ok for a full swing video, however I would love to take top down video of the impact zone during my swing to really see my swing path, club face angle, etc... I imagine that would take at least 500-1000 fls to even get somewhat decent video since it all happens so fast there.

I don't have a good enough camera to take good swing video. It's on my x-mas list.

I use my Canon 7d, only 60fps but full 720p (or 1080p @ 30fps). If I really want to freeze motion, I can set the shutter to 1/2000 of a second (I use either an EF 28 1.8 or EF 50 1.4). The video isn't quite as smooth as it would be at 1/125 at this shutter speed but the 2mp stills that I get are quite good. Even at only 60fps, I LOVE the 7d for shooting golf swings. Once in a while I'll also shoot a high speed burst. It's a bit hit or miss but you can get some pretty great still this way too, the 7d is faaaaaaast!

I have a camera (Nikon Coolpix) with video capabilities. Don't know the FPS, but I'm sure it's pretty low. It was a good enough video to manipulate a bit on my laptop. I got about 9 stills when slowing it down in Quicktime. Far from being good enough to do a real swing analysis though or to use in making any swing changes.

If you don't use a camera, you don't know what you're doing. People try to "show" me or others all the time the "proper" way to do something in a swing, and do the exact thing they are trying to say not to do. It's pathetic. I know what my swing is, and isn't. I am not stupid enough to try to teach anyone without knowing what I do (and of course, I only "teach" friends who ask). Without a camera, you're SOL.

I've got over three years worth of video now so it's pretty cool to see the changes. I have a Sony cam I've used for years. Recently bought a Kodak Zx1 for HD in 60fps.

I find video indispensable.

I think I got my camera right before the HD/High FPS revolution as mine really sucks but was really nice/spendy just a short few years ago.

What's everyone's opinion on the best value for a cam to be used for swing vids? Meaning great clarity, slomo, high FPS rate etc while relatively cheap?

    • Day 446 - 2025-12-20 Woke up early and got some swings in before teaching putting all day. Looking forward to doing the same tomorrow.
    • It's miles better, though.
    • Went up to Erie for a lesson. I still need to work on how I shift my weight into my right leg and turn into the right leg. I extend it too much and externally rotate it too much. That all causes me to over rotate the hips and cause weight shift issues in the downswing. I need to feel like my right leg gains flex (it doesn’t), and my knee cap faces forward. The right hip sinks back and right. I need a need a ton more internal rotation. I still have some right elbow issues in the backswing. The path is better, but too much right elbow bend. I need to maintain width in the right elbow and let my right shoulder retract more, let’s say at A3, which helps keep that right arm extended.
    • Day 130 12-20 Today was just swinging what i had and go from there. Did focus on getting to lead side. Recorded swings for lesson  and hit real balls.
