I play with a glove...but it comes off when i'm 100yds and in...

In my Titleist 2014 9.5" Staff bag:

I know its not true for everyone so I'm not generalizing here but I reckon some golfers wear gloves because the Pro's do and they like to look the part on the golf course with all the fancy gear etc..
Call it a ego thing I suppose??
Anyone agree?

I agree to an extent. I believe newcomers feel that way, I know I did. Now I continue to wear one just because it is comfortable.

Haven't worn a glove in more than 10 years. I carry 2 brand new ones in my bag, but only for the rare day when I have to play a few holes in a light rain. They haven't been out of my bag in 2 years.

Not really. Why do pros wear a glove? Do they have some extra need that us 'normal' players don't? No. Baseball players wear batting gloves for the same reason golfers wear a golf club - and you have the rare player who feels comfortable and has the ability to not need a glove.

I have always used a glove & always will, in all weather conditions. The additional grip on the leading hand is why the pros use a glove & its why I use one. Not using one is not utilising everything available to your advantage, I mean very few people wouldn't use a tee would they?? Take all the help you can is my mantra...

I've always had a glove in my bag, but hardy ever use it.
3 rds ago I took it out of my bag before the Rd and put it in my back pocket......well I'm looking at it right now on my desk because I took it out of my pocket after never even putting it on that day....seems I'm not to worried about it.

I've used them off/on over the years, but at least 80% of the time I play without one......I also hate trying to remember to take it off, put it on, take it off........

I practice without a glove once in a while when i'm working on grip stuff. I've never tried playing without a glove, but suspect I'd like it. I also suspect it'd be rough on my hands since I have a pretty gentle grip with a lot of the club in my fingers.

I have gone times with and without using a glove, it really depends on the feel...whether you like it or not and how much your hands sweat. Also blisters will probably come and go in different places on your hand

I only play without a glove on very hot days. Other than that I wear one all of time, even when I'm putting

I found this thread interesting so today I tried to play without a glove to see how it went. I will not be doing that again

I thought you guys might find interesting an opinion from someone who plays golf in Australia..I usually don't play with a glove and this includes during summertime when it definitely warms up out on the course and you get a sweat up! I only use one when it's raining or I have blisters.

AWESOME!!!! We need bumper stickers!!!!!!!

Me, I don't play with a glove. I used to practice without a glove and play with one, but switched to a no glove routine and have done just as well. I have played in a very humid environment during the summer for the past few years and thought that a glove made a difference for me. When it gets really humid during the summer I found I was having to use four gloves per round, rotating a glove in every three to four holes. Just wiping down my grip and hands has the same effect.

I've never used a glove before. I'll tape my left middle finger sometimes, but that's it.

I've never used a glove to play; only tried it a couple times at the range. I feel like it restricts movement too much and takes away a ton of the feel. For what it's worth, I also played baseball for most of my life and never used a batting glove when hitting either.

    • Option #2 because I'd add the condition that it's in a tournament. Because that'd mean I'd break par in a tournament. And I already have a hole in one.
    • Hole in one is nice, but those low rounds stick in my memory better. I have two holes in one (and a third on a pitch and putt course which I count as a half). I've shot in the 60s three times in the last 10 years or so and I remember each one pretty well. I'd take the low round.
    • Would You Rather #68: Would you rather make a hole-in-one on a perfectly struck shot, during a round where you otherwise played pretty poorly.  or  Would you rather play well all day and beat your personal best by let's say 3 strokes, but with no eagles.    I'd take option 2.   Although option 1 is always exciting, and rewarding. playing well all day is very exciting because I can also do the opposite.
    • I've got two of them.  So for me it depends. If I'm playing with friends and they know me. I'm taking the hole-in-one. Because they know my game anyway. Let's go for the awesome moment/bragging rights.  If I'm in a tournament I'm taking the low round, because I want to win.  If I'm playing with a bunch of strangers, and I just show up, and get paired up. I'm leaning toward taking the low round. I could leave them thinking I'm better than I am. Plus for me that would be a 73. ... That would be cool.
    • Hole in one is a lifetime achievement, so that.
