I used to get blisters before I had a lesson. Now I never get them. I was taught an overlap grip and to think "hold" the club, not actually grip. My grip now is actually pretty loose and relaxed. I usually hit at least one large bucket before I head to school and then another or a round in the late afternoon, so I guess I'm hitting around 100-120 balls a day give or take.

Here is a shot of the glove I'm using right now, I bought it the first week of April, right after my first lesson. So i've had it about a month now. It's a Wilson $5 Wal-Mart special. Just a little wear starting to show on my palm.

Correct me if I'm wrong but that is a synthetic leather glove right? Obviously those are going to wear better than real leather. I used to use one for practice just because of that reason, but always game a real leather glove. To the OP just wear what ever feels best, and be be sure to try them all on if buying more than one at a time, just because it says it's the same size doesn't mean it's gonna fit the same.

Definitely. If you wear out gloves fast, consider a synthetic leather one. The real leather gloves wear much faster, especially if you grip it tight or have a lot of mishits.

Zephs right here, wear whatever glove you find comfortable and fits your price range. A glove that lasts long is always a bonus, usually synthetic leather, but it's mainly about feel (at least for me).

You can get gloves for 5 $ or if you look at the top leather gloves they can go for as much as 25 $.

listen the most important part of glove longevity is the care you give it after play. If you wrinkle it and throw it in your bag, it will become stiff and tear, regardless is it's leather, pleather, or plastic. Use what fits best for you, and my recommendation, is that it allows you to "hold" the club without slipping, without having to grip the club too tight.

Great point, that's why I always use a zip loc baggie to keep mine in (the big freezer ones so you dont have to fold the glove in half) makes your gloves last alot longer..!!

I love zip lock bags, got a bunch of them in my bag at all times. Used to store food, gloves, tees and random stuff.

Wouldn't zip lock baggies actually hurt gloves? They need to air out.

I play in Texas so in the summers the gloves get pretty wet -- I just made a habit of putting the velcro over on of my bag's straps so it can air out and not get bunched up.

You hit balls every day and have a handicap of 40? I just don't believe it... are you lying or a troll?

LOL. Perhaps he's practicing the same bad swing?

My thoughts exactly. A ziplock bag wouldnt allow the glove to air out, which will only accelerate the rate at which the glove breaks down. Not to mention its going to cause mold and make for one stinky glove!

I play 2-3 rounds a week and I hit balls every day and Im able to get about 6 months of use out of Mizuno Retroflex gloves. I tend to throw them away more because they get nasty from sweat than because Ive worn them out. The bag tag strap on my glove has velcro on it and I use the velcro strip on the glove to stick the glove to the bag to allow it to air dry.

Wow, there are some smug pretentious bums on this forum. I bet you go around sniffing your own farts too?

Let me guess you were never a beginner in your first year of golf? Can you prove you're a twelve or do you feel that just gives you more credibitlty?

I prefer to wear two gloves because otherwise I tear up my right thumb.

I thought about two gloves for the same reason. I got a nasty blister on my right thumb after hitting 150 balls

once. Then I realized that I would never hit that many balls in a single round, and they wouldn't all be with the driver I was working on that day.

If it's really sweaty (only summer months) I'll let it air out for a touch, but No it doesn't accelerate the rate at which it breaks down. Think about it, what would break down faster leather that goes from moist to dry moist to dry over and over or leather that always stays moist (and I'm not talking sweaty moist) How many times have you put your glove on again next round and it's a little hard or crusty at first? With the baggie the leather doesn't dry out, it always stays fresh like new. I actually saw this from Tiger, was watching something years ago and saw him pull a glove out of zip lock baggie. Give it a try you'll be suprised..!

Ummm, a 12 handicap isnt anything to brag about. If I wanted to put up a handicap that would give me, as you said, "credability" Id post something in the single digit range.

nuck81 - It's a good idea to start tracking your handicap. The handicap system was developed to help level the playing field of all golfers. To anyone on this forum you simply look like a sandbagger that nobody would want to play with if they said they were a 40 or 99.9 handicap. There are many free sites available online for you to start tracking your handicap which you can find here... http://www.google.com/search?sourcei...dicap+trackers

Sorry I gave you shit earlier about it but I just lost a match to a sandbagger that was playing to my number but should really be a four or five. Total BS but it is what it is.
