I never that id meet another person with osgoods i thought my doctor was lieing when he told me i first had it. That also ended me trying to play football for my highschool cause it hurt to bad to always be getting chop blocked

Haha I know a lot of adults and some other kids around here that have osgood schlatters. I thought it was a common occurence. I've had a pretty medium case of it. It really kills sometimes going up the stairs, and if I have to walk a hilly golf course. Especially if I have to run. It sucks, but I'll be so glad to get rid of it once I'm done growing.

I wont play at a course that does not allow walking. For me anyway, it doesnt feel like golf when im in a cart. Unless im in a scramble or something, i walk every single time i play. Its the only way to do it!

Bah, I have it too. BADLY in my right knee, walking isn't so bad, but keeping it bent for too long hurts, and I can not kneel down on it.

It sucks!

I very much prefer walking over riding a cart. Riding is just too fast for me. I like to take in the beauty of the course. You pay a lot for golf, and I want to get the most out of it. Also, being a little tired can also be better for the swing, and you warm up much faster.

couldn't agree more.

I'd love to be able to walk, but I don't have that option. I am autistic, and was born prematurely. In the process, my feet were damaged. I can't stand for long periods of time without severe pain, and nerve problems (phantom sensations). I've never been able to stand for long periods or walk long distances in my life, even when I was a young child. I was in great shape and full of energy, but standing was just not something I could do. I tried playing 18 holes walking as a child, but it was dreadful.

Thanks for the link DoctorK !

Walking is great. Do it whenever you can. This time of year is tough for me since my asthma starts to rear it's ugly head so it's hard to walk 18. Tried last Sunday ... went out with a 41 and came in with a 49.

But it's also so much easier in the 'beer' cart :)

In my stand Bag:

R7 Superquad 10.5* Fujikura REAX 65-S
Hi-Bore XLS 19* Hybrid Dynamic Gold S300
MP-60 4 thru PW Dynamic Gold S300 .588 REG 54* SW Vokey 58* LWSTX Greeny IV putter

I walk unless there is TStorms in the forecast or it is going to be blazing hot, but even then I often walk and keep a wet towel in a ziplock to put on my neck to cool off.

I have a clic-gear push cart that I use at the coure I'm a member of which gives me a good workout plus saves $18 per round.....but most of the coures in Northern VA charge the same amount whether you walk or ride....so why not take the cart. Also, it seems like most coures built in the last 15 years are mandatory cart ride because there can be lengthy distances (1/4 mile) between holes.

I lived in Tampa, FL for 5 years so I agree about the heat & humidity....it can make golf miserable from May through September....unless you tee up 7am.

I like to walk as well, but the biggest question is do you carry your bag or use a push cart? And if you carry your bag, WHY?

Yea I used to NEVER be able to squat down to read putts, but it's getting a lot better and now I'm only down to 25 minutes of icing it down afterwards........

That's amazing, congrats to you overcoming such a difficult start! And to be able to shoot such a low handicap! Asperger's I assume? As an aside, my wife who works with special needs children (she's an OT) thinks I might be on the spectrum as well! She's usually right.

No, autism, not Asperger's. But it's hardly noticable to most people, as my speech is not compromised in any way. It's really the most basic problem, my senses are all turned up to 11.

So, you are saying your senses are "over the cliff?"

(Spinal Tap reference for anyone who has never seen the movie) On a side note: isn't Asperger's just Autism without the speech impediment? Either way, I'm not a doctor, but I hear from a very very reliable source, that they might soon just do away with the term Asperger's all together.

    • While on vacation in Punta Cana a few weeks ago I played with rental clubs, Mizuno Pro 245's with KBS Tour Lite steel shafts. Surprisingly, I was blown away, not only by the distance, trajectory and dispersion I was getting but also about how soft and buttery they felt. It got me thinking.... IT'S TIME FOR NEW IRONS! Just yesterday, at my local Golf Galaxy, I tested them again side by side with the JPX Forged (recommended by the Mizuno rep who happened to be there) which also felt pretty good. Not as buttery soft as the 245's but they did produce slightly better numbers on off-center hits. Also, I haven't played with forged clubs with steel shafts in 10 years thinking I was getting too old and that I needed the lighter weight but these clubs with that shaft felt really, really good. So that's my long and drawn-out intro to my question: Does anyone here at TST play with either of these clubs and if so, what's your opinion?

    • By today’s standards that’s certainly true, but they weren’t having any trouble hitting golf balls in 2005 so I’ve equipped myself with what was among the very best equipment around that time for a very reasonable investment. If I get to the point where I feel like I’ve outgrown that stuff, I’ll reward myself with something more current. But for now I don’t need adjustable loft and lie and modern head shape, just a good quality, proven club with a clean club face. For now I’m going to concentrate on the basics. I know you can get more yardage with newer woods, but I don’t care about distance nearly as much as consistency, and you can’t buy that for any price.
