I have a couple of different golf buddies, and even though I still play with them occasionally none seem to hold the same passion for golf as I do most last 2-3 seasons and then don't want to play any more than 1-2 times a month for me its hard to find someone that wants to play 1-2 or even 3 rounds a week year after year all of them still call me when they want to play but I play more often than not by myself anyone have this same issue ? I have a family and work a lot of hours its hard to meet new golfers.

Yeah man im in the same boat... Its hard to find someone that has the same passion for the game as i do. I guess thing to do is to join a league or play in tournaments until you find someone that has the same passion as you do

Yeah no kidding, problem is I have a 4 year old no morning league for me then I work 2nd shift for day care purposes no afternoon league either I play on whim whenever the opportunity presents itself I'm not mad I understand I can't expect anyone to be on my schedule just seems the guys that were willing to travel all over Michigan or play 36 on Sunday just lose the desire to do so after a while! Anyone in southern Michigan need a regular partner I'm in the Jackson area between Ann arbor and lansing.

I don't really have this issue, thankfully. I have my dad to play with, and a couple friends from the golf team.

But, playing by yourself kind of sucks...my best advice would just be go to the course and try to find the 'regulars' there and just talk to them and see if they'd like to play sometime.

I'm not sure it'e really a question of passion. I love the game of golf & love spending time on the course but I still can only get out about every other weekend. It's not that I lack passion, it's that I have a lot of other things to do and a lot of other things to spend my money on. I look forward to the day when I can really dedicate more time to my game.

I am somewhat in the same boat; I have others to play with at my home club, but most of them have kids that are older or no kids at all, so they play mornings, which don't often work for me. Instead, I get out and get in nine or sometimes eighteen in in the late afternoon or evening. Last night I played nine in an hour and twenty five minutes, so it works well time wise as it doesn't take a lot of time from the day, but it would be nice to find a few others who had a similar schedule as me that would be going out at similar times.

Some times golf buddies just slow you down. I drove to a course yesterday, played a twilight 18, and drove home in less than 3 hours. That would never happen with my slowa$$ed golf buddies.

i had the same problem, i asked the pro at my course if he knew anyone who played as much as i did and he introduced me to a few players. you might try that.

I try to play at least 3 mornings a week before heading off to work. Most mornings I would see another gentleman about my same age. After a few weeks of saying "good morning" and heading off to separate tees, last week I asked him if he'd like to play together and he said he was thinking of asking. We now get together a couple mornings a week, and while our games are much different, we have a great time together. Sometimes it's just about being open to making new friends ...

same here man. I know 4 people who I will golf with, and even then finding a golfing partner that doesn't have a conflicting schedule (class, work, etc.) is hard. I do enjoy the solo round on occasion though.

Was in Mason Saturday shooting trap at the MTA homegrounds, thankfully missed the whole Hugh Jackmen craziness.

It seemed like I was always the one to call up my buddies to see if they wanted to play, and they never reciprocated by setting up tee times themselves. Finally I had enough, and lately I've started playing as a single. I don't know why it took me so long.

I will usually ask my neighbor (like my little brother) if he wants to go, if all else fails. If he's busy, then I say hell with it, and play on my own. I have no problems as a single. I even like it more then playing with a partner sometimes, I can concentrate, and use more then one ball when needed. When I am with someone, I feel a little more pressured, and like I need to follow the rules more. Well, that isn't true, it depends on who I get paired with.

Like today I got paired with a few drinkers, who had a ball, and anything within six feet was a gimme. One of the guys wound up being my neighbors friends.

I live in Lansing :) College student here though, so super nice courses are a bit outside my budget. If the Grande has a special or something id love to play there. Cascades is nice sometimes if they keep it in good shape but its a tough course :(

I often play as a single in the evenings. For me it's a scheduling nightmare with all the other crap going on. Often I look at watch and see that I have a little time to squeeze in 9. My course has 2 regulation courses plus an executive course so the starters can usually direct me to my quickest route. The executive course is great for squeezing in six practice holes at lunch or for a quick warm up.

Oh I don't know about that. I have about 6 golf buddies, but none of them has the flexible schedule as I do. So most of the time, I tend to go out as a single and get paired up with strangers. I actually like going as a single and playing with someone I don't know. You get to meet some of the most interesting people that way. Granted you do get some bad apples once in a while, but overall I think the good outweighs the bad.

If you meant just going out by yourself and not get paired up, well I don't have that problem here as most courses are always booked solid.
