Post things that you find exceptionally annoying that are commonplace and can't really be changed. For example, don't post slow play since it's obvious and everyone hates it.

For me it's taking a break after 9. I hate waiting while my playing partners are inside buying hamburgers and hotdogs and the group ahead is just finishing theirs and hasn't teed off on 10 yet. Really you can't go 4 hours without a full meal? I just keep an orange or something in my bag and I'm good to go. I love courses where the #10 teebox is way the hell out there and forces people to keep playing. Obviously I realize they're set up so people can just play 9 but that's why it's a pet peeve.

Fore!

I hate when the course i'm playing isn't a walking type course. Most are, but there are those few that have holes that are spaced way out, and have hills and stuff. Yes, I realize I can just get used to it, but it is still nonetheless a hassle.

There are excellent courses I've refused to play for that reason. My stance on being able to walk is probably my buddies' pet peeve.

1. Loudmouth Golfers.
2. Morons who don't even attempt to rake a Sand Trap or Repair a divot (because their too busy being Loudmouths).
3. People (singles or a twosome) who come up behind you, and in stead of being cool, and realizing that people are in front of me to, they get out of their cart, grab their clubs and stand there with one hand on their hip.
4. Lazyasses who get a bag or two of warm-up balls, dump them on the Practice Green and when finished simply walk off leaving them scattered everywhere.

For me it is ridiculously slow play. Everyone has their own pace of play, but when slow play is extreme it starts to grate on me. That's about the only thing that really bugs me much.

I dont like walking onto a green and seeing a bunch of un-repaired pitch marks. I have a OCD thing going on, and i just end up repairing all of them myself and wasting time that i should be focusing on playing the game.

Plumb-bobbers.

If you are a tour player or scratch golfer (and actually know how to do it) then by all means have at it. But if you are a 28 handicap and you are playing in front of me, and you have no idea why you are doing or what it is supposed to indicate, please stop it.

People who don't like to chat while playing.
Slow players... ugh .... I'm a fast player and I like people who play fast too.

edit:

I don't mean racing to the ball, but reading the break on your putts while somebody else is putting. Putting your bag down so that you don't have to walk back for it, small things save a lot of time.

1. People who tell me that they haven't played golf in 3 years and rarely ever play, yet went out the other day and shot a 75. Really? Do I have gullible tattooed on my forehead??

2. I play a lot by myself, so I hate foursomes who refuse to let me play through!! Come on!!

1). Cell Phones...enough said.

2). Golfers who sit next to the green filling out their scorecards when there are people waiting in the fairway...or they are fiddling with their headcovers more than necessary.

3). Non-ready golfers (sometimes on cell phones)

4). Not sanding your divots (in SoFla the divots don't come out like mini-lawns, they disentigrate)/fixing ball marks

5). Unraked bunkers

People who whine about slow play. Yes, I understand it's annoying but after complaining for the 963rd time in the last 2 holes isn't going to make the round go any quicker.

People that don't let quicker groups play through - as soon as I start looking for my ball, I wave the group behind through

Unrepaired pitchmarks - I won't play with people that don't repair pitchmarks People that don't bring any food to golf, and look at me while I am eating mine People that turn up to play and don't leave enough time to get to the tee/get changed Loud people People that don't get the rules
1). Cell Phones...enough said.

I had this yesterday for around ten holes - I know you lot will say I am out of order but when I landed a 230 yard 3 wood on the green next to him he soon hurried up

1.) Cell phone talkers (even if they're being quiet or discrete about it). You came to play golf, not to let me listen to your phone call. And don't ever make me wait while you're finishing up a call.

2.) People who take more than 90 seconds to hit each shot with practice swings, etc and consistently hit crappy shots. I don't mind if you're a good player and just take your time visualizing, etc. because at least you're realizing a benefit from the time but nobody needs 5 full on practice swings before hitting, etc. (and I'd argue that 15+ handicappers are just making things worse by doing so). If you can't finish a non-competitive round by yourself on a relatively empty course in less than 3:45, then you're a slow golfer. Do something about it. By the same token, if you've never played with a four that didn't beat the course recommendation by 20 minutes, then you're the reason that people always seem to be waiting on your groups.

3.) People who let their mood/disposition during the round have an impact on the others in his/her group. I don't care how poorly you're shooting that day, the other 3 people in your group are still playing their game - they shouldn't have to put up with your breaches of etiquette or club throwing, etc.

4.) people who show zero knowledge of basic etiquette rules (e.g., standing behind someone while putting and (even worse) moving around, or walking/talking while someone is in the middle of their backswing, etc.). Most of the etiquette rules are just common sense - chances are that their lack of knowledge about them is due to a general sense of selfishness and a total lack of consideration for others.

Especially since he isnt gonna finish his round any sooner by doing so. The guy is gonna fill out his card no matter what, and you still have to follow him.

man, you shouldn't do it with a 3 wood. That could've gone anywhere.

it's different when you do it with a short iron. You know there's a good chance you won't hit them. But you could've hit that guy pretty easily. What would your excuse be? "he was marking his scorecard next to the green so I decided to speed him up a bit" I've done it myself, but never with a wood.

    • However, have you ever considered using small summer houses for such setups? They offer a great solution for creating dedicated practice areas, especially for an affluent audience looking to enhance their outdoor living space.
    • I've played Bali Hai, Bear's Best and Painted Desert. I enjoyed Bali Hai the most--course was in great shape, friendly staff and got paired in a great group. Bear's Best greens were very fast, didn't hold the ball well (I normally have enough spin to stop the ball after 1-2 hops).  The sand was different on many holes. Some were even dark sand (recreation of holes from Hawaii). Unfortunately I was single and paired with a local "member" who only played the front 9.  We were stuck behind a slow 4-some who wouldn't let me through even when the local left. Painted Desert was decent, just a bit far from the Strip where we were staying.

    • Honestly, unless there's something about that rough there that makes it abnormally penal or a lost ball likely, this might be the play. I don't know how the mystrategy cone works, but per LSW, you don't use every shot for your shot zones. In that scatter plot, you have no balls in the bunker, and 1 in the penalty area. The median outcome seems to be a 50 yard pitch. Even if you aren't great from 50 yards, you're better off there than in a fairway bunker or the penalty area on the right of the fairway. It could also be a strategy you keep in your back pocket if you need to make up ground. Maybe this is a higher average score with driver, but better chance at a birdie. Maybe you are hitting your driver well and feel comfortable with letting one rip.  I get not wanting to wait and not wanting to endanger people on the tee, but in a tournament, I think I value playing for score more than waiting. I don't value that over hurting people, but you can always yell fore 😆 Only thing I would say is I'm not sure whether that cone is the best representation of the strategy (see my comment above about LSW's shot zones). To me, it looks like a 4 iron where you're aiming closer to the bunker might be the play. You have a lot of shots out to the right and only a few to the left. Obviously, I don't know where you are aiming (and this is a limitation of MyStrategy), but it seems like most of your 4 iron shots are right. You have 2 in the bunker but aiming a bit closer to the bunker won't bring more of your shots into the bunker. It does bring a few away from the penalty area on the right.  This could also depend on how severe the penalties are for missing the green. Do you need to be closer to avoid issues around the green?  It's not a bad strategy to hit 6 iron off the tee, be in the fairway, and have 150ish in. I'm probably overthinking this.
