About to head out and play 9 Solo at the nearest par3. This is only my second time in 3years of golfing heading out by myself. But I really want to play serious and cant find anyone else around right now.

So I was wondering how often do you go out to play solo, or if not having anyone to go with means no golf for you?

I play solo often. It allows me to play at my own pace. Also, I can focus a little more on my game when I'm working on something. Which I've been doing quite a bit lately as I'm trying to change my swing and get more consistent.

Cool thanks guys, I did find it extremely relaxing the last time I went. Only a pair of 17yo begginers had to rush out to the frst tee before me last time. Then they took about 3 swings each to make it the first 150yds or so. I played about 4-5balls a hole that day it was alot of fun. But I was wiped out by the 7th hole and just left haha.

Played today as single, first time in long time. Have to say I think it helped me.
I wasn't having to worry with other players only myself.Plus, it was quick, did 18 in 3 hours, that I loved.
It was fairly relaxing until I hit a 6,6 an a 7 stretch on the back lol but other than that, it was good.
Hope you enjoy it as I did.
I'll probably go solo more often.

I play solo about half the time I play. I find it to be very relaxing. When I first started doing it I was a little worried about being paired with someone I don't know but I'm pretty much over that now.

I play solo 99% of the time. I actually prefer to play solo because it gives me some quiet time to clear my mind or forget about the stresses of day to day life.

There's a small course on my way home from the office that I play by myself once a week. As a few others here have said, I find it very relaxing.

I like playing solo. I can keep my own pace and rhythm and have minimal distractions. I don't mind playing with others, but my best (and fastest) rounds are solo. It definitely doesn't hinder me from going out.

I play solo about 1% of the time. I did like being able to put a headphone in one ear, and listen to music in the evening whilst playing on a near empty course.

I've only played solo thus far, as I don't really have any golfing acquaintances. I don't know any different, really.

I don't play much by myself since I have a brother who golfs, but when I do I really enjoy it.

I play solo about half the time, usually. Got a lot of golfing buddies but they have a lot of excuses not to play, haha.

I figure that if I'm spending money on a membership, I'm gonna play one way or the other.

Was a good time. Only once again I noticed that there were about 2 groups infront me duffing away. Yet this course you can see 7,8,9 which come right back to 1. So I asked the guy in the clubhouse if I could jump on 7 he said "idk theres a group chipping on 6, wait for them". So I watched them for 30 seconds and said yeah not waiting for that.

I was hitting on 9 by the time they got to 7 lol and when I got to one there was no other groups around worked perfect shot a 34 and got out quick. Cant say I would have enjoyed it if I had to wait for those groups they wanted me too though.

I almost always go by myself, whether or not I get paired up is more circumstantial.

    • Day 5:  Oops, I missed practice on Mother's Day. But today I got a pile of mirror work done. Tomorrow will be a range day and then City League on Wednesday.
    • I had another interesting ruling last week, in a pro "junior/senior fourball" event.  Near one of the greens was a drain, with the actual grate set maybe 3 or 4 inches below the ground surface.  It wasn't in a depressed area, basically just a straight-sided hole, with the surrounding ground pretty level.  A Player's ball was in some longer grass adjacent to the grate, maybe even overhanging a bit, to the "side" of the drain, so the path of his swing was "tangent" to the circular grate.  The ball was at ground level, so 3 or 4 inches above the metal grate itself.   As I saw it, there was no way at all that the actual Obstruction would impact any reasonable swing path, so I denied relief.  I did talk it over with another official, who said he would probably have allowed the relief, but agreed that it was a borderline call.
    • Here is where we're at so far.  (3) more spots left for Saturday, and (2) Sunday.  Again, if there are more folks interested in both days, we'll give preference to them.
