Yeah, cuz his foundation isn't helping anyone, and he probably gives away a few million bucks a year because he's totally selfish.

The guy cheated on his wife (A LOT). Doesn't make him the anti-christ.

I'm sick of all the Tiger bashing! He hasn't played that bad in any of the Majors this year! If this infidelity crap wouldn't have come out, most of the bashers would still be on the Tiger BandWagon. Not that I'm condoning cheating, but give the guy a break.

Tiger bashing??? This thread is for debating whether Tiger's playing well enough to warrant a Ryder Cup appearance or not.Little to no Tiger bashing here.

Now Pavin is telling us that Tiger is "high on his list for the Ryder Cup" team. Such a crock. If the PGA and all the sponsors weren't worried about their TV ratings without Tiger, there would be absolutely no question that he would not be on the team. Between the Ryder stuff and the PGA fiasco, I am getting very turned off by golf organizations.

I gotta agree with you. IMO he won't add anything to the Ryder team. He doesn't play well with others, his Ryder Cup record to point isn't that great, but he will make the ratings climb, lol, even if he has a hard time breaking par.

LOL, this game used to be about intergrity and accountability, but we have basturdized it, like everything else, so its all about MONEY.

I could be wrong, but this thread could have been worded differently. It's not specifically a Tiger question. The real question is, "of the players sitting in the 9 to 12 spots in the final Ryder Cup points standings, are there any whould should be bumped, and if so, by whom?"

I just don't see how you don't pick Tiger. There probably isn't a better match player on the list of choices than Tiger. Just don't pair him with Phil.

He's won three US Amateurs and he knows how to be a great player. As I'm writing this he just shot a 65 @ Barclays... If you're Pavin, you've got to put a Tiger in your tank. But just like ghalfaire says... "keep him away from Mickelson!"

Five reasons why Tiger should not be on the Ryder Cup team:
5. He's going through another swing change. His new coach, Sean Foley, seems to be suggesting changes that Tiger needs to make, but when you change your swing, you lose your bearings for a while. This is a bad time to be relying on someone who is retooling.

4. The symbolism of it all. How can we leave the Number One player in the world off the team? Anyone who thinks he still ranks that high has had their eyes closed all summer. He's the Number One player in the world because that's the way the formula works and because Phil refuses to step up.

3. He would be a distraction who would drain energy from the rest of the team. The whole focus of the Cup would be how well Tiger is playing, or how well he is not playing. This is a team event, and the last thing a team needs is a player whose sad story is bigger than the team effort.

2. There's no fire in his game right now. This is the week that Tiger laid up (!) on a 273-yard par 4, pitched on, missed the birdie putt, and missed the one-foot tap-in.

1. Tiger is a broken man who needs time to heal himself. In 2008, he had a broken leg and needed time to mend it. Now, he has a broken head, a broken psyche, and he needs time to mend that, too.

Sorry, but I cannot agree with the claim that there's no fire in his game. He had 17 birdies this week. He had a 18-hole stretch of +8, but he shot -15 on the other 54 holes. In match play, you can do very well as long as you're making a lot of birdies.

Tiger showed he is on the right track this weekend at the Barclays. Of course he should be on the Ryder Cup team. I am not sure how he will be as a partner, but he should be in the singles and have at em. Remember his exwife was European so there will be an edge to the Tiger's claws.

      Are these course getting easier? are the players getting better? should we not worry about tournaments that used to produce single digit winners are now producing course records year after year.  I am not talking roll back I am just curious why scores are so much lower than five to ten years ago.

      I've posted plenty of positive things about Tiger over the years. I just like to play fair.  But if you want to see me praise TW some more here you go: 12 wins by 7 shots or more - Jack had 4 3 separate win streaks of 5 or more in a row - Jack won 3 in a row once It took Jack 172 more events and 9 extra years to reach Tiger's 71 wins by 2009 TW is the only player since 1900 to win a major by double digits and he did it twice 30% peak win rate is even higher than the previous record holder Ben Hogan (25%) 11 time PGA Tour Player of the year - Jack had 5 12 times lead the Tour in wins - Jack 6 10 times money list leader - Jack 8 Jack officially has 73 wins, but 2 of them are team wins with Arnie. You could argue he should be listed with 71 and I wouldn't disagree.

      I mean that's clearly an opinion.  The funny thing is I never even attacked Tiger, I just pointed out that the other poster had a point when he mentioned that Jack had a longer career. Tiger basically had 5 years when he could have been winning more tournaments if not for his injuries. 2010-2011 and then again 2015-2017. Hard to make the argument after his final win because not many players win a ton after age 43.  If those numbers support the fact that Jack had a longer career so be it. Don't take that as an affront to Tiger.

      Even injured Tiger had a more impressive career than Jack against much stiffer competition. This was confirmed by Jack quite a few times. You want to ignore that, but it’s fact.

      Day 201 3-5 Wider backswing and higher. Practiced consisted of mostly backswing today. Wrist arching through downswing still a focus on full shots with a pause.  Will probably have a 2nd practice tonight blending wider backswing into more of full swing without pause at the top.
