You guys better check the Tee times and TV times for tomorrow. Guess NBC prefers some football game over the "Golf playoffs" espically with THAT leaderboard....

Looks like a clash of English speaking nations - clusters of US / UK / Australia / South Africa.

They dont care about english speaking nations, if the leaderboard is full with americans, that brings in ratings - if the leaderboard is full with no names + Tiger - that brings in ratings. This leaderboard wont!

I think it was at the WGC Matchplay with the all english final - where they just switched it off at some point.

I really hope Charlie Wi wins. But this tournament could belong to anyone who is under par at this point.

It's not Sunday yet. I kinda hope he doesn't go into turtle mode this Sunday like he sometimes does. He plays well in the middle of events, though:

Round 1 scoring average: 40th on Tour (70.32) Round 2: 9th (69.68) Round 3: 15th (69.19) Round 4: T67 (70.67) I hope he wins too. Next week also. Knock on wood.

how many "pure" S&T; players are on tour right now? Obviously Charlie is one of them, but didn't know who else.

He's won a lot of tournaments on a lot of courses, so this list could be fit almost every week.

i'm not watching on TV right now but can someone explain the situation as to why Mickelson hit a wedge...? What was he trying to do exactly? How far was the pin?

Totally dumb course management. I think I heard an announcer say something about "having alot of arrows in the quiver to choose from" or something like that. Next time Phil, when you pull the arrow out of the quiver, make sure it's the damn putter when you are clearly on the green and go for the eagle/birdie instead of the green-flop-disaster/par scenario.

I didn't even know that it was permissible to even chip on a green!!! I learn something new everyday.

When Phil picked out that club, I bet every greenskeeper in America had that same feeling that Yoda had when the Rebellion started and the Jedi's were being slaughtered. Send the green damage repair bill to Callaway Golf - Attention Phil Mickelson.

I also seen Tiger putting twice with a wedge but his were just tap ins.

I think they're going a bit OTT on the Kuchar thing.

He's a professional athelete. You know, they are the types that heal magically from incurable diseases while the rest of us don't.

I'm usually down with Ryan Moore's wardrobe, but even I have no idea what he's trying to do with the black shirt/white tie/hooded sweatshirt combo. The 74 he just posted is assuredly a just punishment from the golf gods.

I've never liked hats that have the emblems off center. They look like rejects that the Champion's stores used to have back in the day. Also when doing interviews, wear that tie proper or don't wear it at all. It makes you look like a hack.

Watched the second round coverage last night. TGC's coverage of the stars instead of the tournament leaders is getting tiresome. During their 3 hour program, they showed just about every Tiger (+3, T41) and Phil (+1, T28) putt, drive, and approach. Number of Charlie Wi (-6, T1) putts/drives/approaches broadcasted, zero.

I understand that the average television viewer will only watch golf if Tiger is on, but it is a disservice to the public if you broadcast a sporting event without televising the leaders of the event. (BTW, Charlie was in second place going after the first round, so not a surprise to TGC that he was/is playing well)

Huh? All of the players you mentioned were done with play by the time coverage started. They showed about six to eight of Tiger's shots and about four of Phil's (mostly just that one chip-in). They showed several of Wi's putts. They showed a fair amount of Wi on Thursday, too - and recapped the round Kuchar had since he'd finished before TV coverage started.

On his picking Tiger to dominate this week, you're correct. A broken digital clock is "dead wrong" all the time.

Ryan Moore's hoodie is not making an encore appearance today, which is odd. One would think it to be most appropriate in today's dank, misty conditions. The good news is he's 5-under for the day with a supersized rain shirt.

It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to hand out hard hats for the spectators with that pairing. The squirrels will be getting a good workout.

They are just about to tee off. Good thing it's not on TV or anything . . .who would want to watch the worlds #1 and #2 on Sunday in a play-off tournament? Probably nobody. Good thinking PGA.

I'd kinda like to see that too, but how would you suggest the PGA make it happen? Convince the network to cut into live programming? It's not the PGA's fault that Philip and Tiger aren't in contention enough to have a tee time later than the broadcast is scheduled to start. I'm sure we'll see plenty of them once it does.

Besides, it's not like there's any drama there as far as the playoffs are concerned - Phil's almost guaranteed to be in the final tourney; Tiger's guaranteed not to be.

The changed the game of the week to allow MLB fans to see that young Nationals pitcher - good thing too since his career is likely over.

I don't know what's on in your neck of the woods but they're showing infomercials on the West Coast. Even if they couldn't show it on network tv, there must be somewhere - one of the ESPNs, the Golf Channel . . heck, even adding marque group to the internet coverage. note - I see that golf channel is having an extended pre-game . . .probably as close as they can get.

    • He’s got to be the best player that’s never won a PGA-tournament these days.
    • Day 3 (August 13).  4' putting drill;  this is a modified version of the drill from LSW for short putting.   For context, in 2025, my strokes lost putting is more than 2 per round compared to the 15 handicap baseline, just on putts under 10'.  So that's a glaring weakness I think.  Anyway, so I set up 12 markers around a hole like a clockface, all coins, all face up.  I putt from each in turn, if I make it, I flip a heads over (or pick up if it's tails).  This means I have to make 24 putts eventually, ideally quickly.  It took me 38 attempts to do this, although 9 of the 12 coins were picked up either in the first or second go around.   Anyway, the baseline for a "90-golfer" (per Broadie description) is 37 attempts, so that's pretty good, but I'll keep trying to improve.  For anyone thinking about this, the number would be 30 for an average scratch player.   This was done on a real green at a nearby course's practice area.
    • Day 18: a little under the weather, so just some mirror work while watching TV.
    • That's not the right way to look at it, because you're not going to have a rating of 55 or something for even a 6500-yard par 72. There's a minimum rating (depending on the length), and then +s and -s to that. If a course has a bunch of +s and -s that even out, that doesn't mean the course rating is 100% the length. And what kind of math would it be if the course rating was lower than the formula: 103% length? 🙂
    • Day 316 - 2025-08-13 Mental rehearsals today for about 15 minutes as I'm kinda screwed up in some way. 😞
