I usually watch the back of the ball. Interested to hear some of the better players opinions on whether they look at the front, inside back etcc???

I look at the front. Helps me hit down on the ball.

I may be in the minority, but I don't actually focus on a specific part of the ball. I just look at the general area around the ball.

Very good question!

I look at the inside back of the ball since that is where I am trying to hit it.

I don't look at the ball. I look at the turf just behind it. That turf will still be there after impact and I am still looking at it after impact.

The front of the ball. Even on putts and chips. Especially on putts and chips. On putts that helps me stroke through the ball instead of hit at it, and on chips, it cuts way down on the chili-dips, because, again, I'm hitting down through the ball instead of down at it.

The average of those two. If my setup is good, and my waggle feels good, I hit the ball. All of it.

Same here. Not that it matters, he's looking for good player's opinions...

I tend to think "one hits what one looks at", so I look at a spot just in front of the ball for irons (to make sure my swing arc is bottoming out in front of the bll and hence getting a good descending blow), at the back inside of the ball on drives to help make sure I'm hitting a bit inside-out and flat or ascending, and about an inch behind the ball when in the bunker.

Ideally, my swing would bottom out in front of the ball, so for irons I look at the ground about a quarter of an inch in front of the ball. For putting and woods, I look at the back of the ball. When I can, I align the ball so the arrow is coming up the backside giving me a small, specific area to focus on.

In Bobby Clampett's the Impact Zone , he advocates that the low point of your swing should be about four inches in front of the ball. As such, he suggests the golfer actually look four inches in front of the ball at address and aim there to better ensure good contact.

Seems to help a good amount of people who try it.

Just tried looking at the front of the ball and i was amazed at some of the results. Alot of really clean contact, and distance.

Ill add some more info, my divots were starting about an inch in front of the ball heading slightly left of the target, however my ball appeared to push draw. Now i was aligned straight to the target, had a stick down to help this project, and the ball started to the right and drew back bout 5 yards. Is this a natural thing, or was i possibly aligned slightly to the right of the target and pull drawed it.

    • Day 23: weird day, and only had a little bit of time. Just did mirror work again, working on where the elbow is in the downswing
    • I flipped over to this tonight and thoroughly enjoyed it. Anyone else watch? I picked it up during the golf relay event, but seeing these pros out having fun in alternative events was refreshing and entertaining. I’m sure it will be on in reruns in the next week or so, so I won’t spoil the outcome. Im curious what others thought of it. I’m recording it’s later airing to see the beginning.
    • Day 443 - 2025-12-17 Made a few swings in testing some things out at another academy. Might pop up on someone else's podcast in a few weeks.
    • Day 37 (17 Dec 25) - nine hole round with my good friend.  We got paired up with a couple of the men’s group regulars as part of their shootout.  Started off with a wonderful quad bogie and then a dbl on three to be six over thru three holes.  Game went 180° over the next five as I shot one under (including a chip in birdie on hole six and four up and down 1 putt pars) for a net finish of five over. What could have been a really tough nine became a solid finish due to staying in the moment and not checking out.  Great day in course management and keeping perspective .
    • Day 127 12-17 Backswing and flow practice. Took advantage of the 60 degeee weather(it was 20 degrees Sunday)
