Yes, it's my birthday. I'm 60 today.

And, I'm lucky. I have a job, my wife and I have been married for 35 years, and we're getting a lower-rate refi on our mortgage.

I'm really lucky to have a job, especially when I needed heart surgery 5 years ago. Lots of less fortunate people would have been bankrupted by the experience, no health insurance and all.

Hope we come up with a good solution for health care for the nation. I feel guilty when I hear about children and adults who are sick, and can't the care they need.

So, back to golf. I should have one of my best seasons next year, being my revamped swing stays intact except for a couple of holes per nine. My golf equipment is about where I need it, except I might get my irons reshafted in DG R300 SL, or maybe KBS Tour 90 regular - 12%less shaft weight might give me a little boost on clubhead speed.

So, I hope iacas, sean_miller, the boydster, normdamarine, and the rest of you guys (and gals) I trade remarks with are having a good day too. I enjoy hearing what you all are doing, and how golf is going outside St. Louis area.

My wife is taking me out to dinner, so birthday boy had better sign off for now.

Sincerely, WUT

Happy Bday, man.

Been a long time lurker and have read many of you guys' posts. I am actually from Rolla, Missouri originally and would be interested in hearing what are some of your favorite courses in the StL area.

I know this was yesterday, but happy birthday man! My father turned 60 last month, and it's surely a big milestone. Luckily for him is company recently decided to buy everyone Macbooks and iPhones, so he feels a lot younger. Hope you get to play more golf than he does though!

The good news is that the world doesn't end at 60. I'm just a month away from 64... still getting it done. For whatever reason, the game of golf seems more difficult now, but I think I enjoy it more. Not quite as worried about score as I once was.

So, a happy 60 to you and good luck in the coming decade.

Last summer I played a round with a couple who had just celebrated their 45th wedding anniversary. He carried his bag (he could pound that G5 - slight draw to ~270) and his wife used a pull cart (not a long hitter but she hit every shot and rocked that Wilson 8802). I was inspired to get in better shape.

Thanks, jamo. Wanted to say I enjoy your posts. You do your homework and really understand the game.

Only got in seven 18-hole rounds this season. Between 13 rainouts - golf was #1 that day until storm opened up - and family and work stuff, it was a rough season. Family and work was some one-time biggies, so hopefully next season will be better.

    • Day 1 - First chipping and pitching. Focus on a better grip, the fundamentals and taking the club back on plane, not outside. Feels good. Then some full swings. Focus on improving the setup. Weight more forward, more bent over, and same grip stuff.
    • Congrats on the improvement. Cheers for lots of continued improvement in the future. IMO you've gotta get away from these spots… Those are partly "results" as the work will begin on things earlier in the swing. Good luck.
