I personally think its a great show. The guy is trying to get back up on his own two feet. I hope he makes I really do!!!

See, how does dude have a website??? He doesn't have a computer! Does he do this on his blackberry?? My favorite part from the site:

http://www.markburk.com/appearances.html

Whether your company is looking for a motivational speaker for your next event, celebrity or sports figure to endorse your product, make a special appearance, deliver a keynote speech or VIP meet and greet session, Mark Burk is right choice for all of your talent needs.  Please check the contacts page for further information.

Really??? LOL...

You do realize the show is taped, probably 6-12 months ago. I don;t know how long the web site has been around but I doubt it was around when the show was being filmed. If so, the whole thing is a fabrication.

Awards, Achievements, and Accolades

I wonder why none of his "friends" in the golf biz won't take him in. (makes me think he has some real issues and they know it)

I wonder why Beverly Johnson refuses to be interviewed.

I wonder why the TV Network took his story on as a project, but still leave him in the pipes at night????

I wonder why his statistics page has been removed from PGA.com

I wonder why he is not playing money games somewhere with some rich guys?

The whole story would keep me more interested.  I couldn't care less about his daily non-productive activities that fill up an hour show.

I don't think he made it through Q school since it was last year in 2010, and there is no page for him on any of the Champions tour or PGA stats page.  I put this on the DVR since Golf channel has this an Haney/Rush for shows this season.. OMFG get some better shows.

However, this whole show is ridiculous.

  1. If your homeless, I would think you'd get to a shelter, a job, and then a roof over your head with at least a rent payment.
  2. Sort your life out, and then think about golf.
  3. Instead, he's like nope, I think I'll chase golf.  This should be called 'crack pipe dream'
  4. Regardless of his GF situation, he still was a mooch and she funded everything.  He was an instructor and a consultant on the movie Sword Fish and didn't have the game for any of the real tours.  Grow up, get a set and take care of your life and $$$.

So to predict the future here since it's already happened.

1) He doesn't pass Q - School. (Nice of his friends to blow $3K on his dream)

2) Doesn't seem to be on any tours (Even John Daly gets on with sponsor exemptions and no card.)

3) Now he's a motivational speaker.... dude sign me up because I'd love to take advice for a guy accused of being an abuser and kicked out on the streets... umm whom would rather try professional golf vs. getting a real job and a real place of his own.

Things happen for a reason.... maybe that's how he ended up there.  I don't wish the guy bad luck or anything, I just hope he truly gets his act together.  From the show listing on GC he's talking with the professional Psychiatrist.  That should help.

Lol, he is not even a good golf bum. After college I was a ski bum in vail Colorado and at least I skiied every day, and in the summer I was a golf bum.....guess what. I golfed every day. All he does is ride his bike around....lol I think he is just a bum. Lmao

When a company makes a club in the USA I will proudly display their brand here. All of mine were made in china by somebody making $2 a day. Shame on you Mr club manufacture.

That's what I was saying....you can make some money at golf without "THE TOUR".  And as good as he is supposed to be and with nowhere to go and nothing to do, he could hang out around some golf course, clean up in their bathroom when they opened, help vaccuum and take out trash in trade for a sandwich and chips for lunch, and play money holes with the rich, old guys all day long!    Hmmmmm.....maybe I should do this????  LOL

I've been holding back my opinion until the show got a little deeper.  After seeing how he acted with the dude that put up money for him to be there and caddy for him, the guy is a complete douchebag.

He clearly has no idea how to take personal responsibility for his failures.

The guy has a few screws loose and is an ahole.

I've been holding off until the show got deeper too and he is not even close to having the mental game to be on any tour. I was wondering from the start because seeing the choices he was making I wasn't sure if mentally he was all there and clearly he is not. I wish the guy luck I mean if you think about it he didn't make it on the tour but got a tv show and is now making money off of that now.

Last night showed how much of a complete a hole and obnoxious mentally ill guy he is. He is sick in the head. He showed how easy he can lose his temper.  I have no doubt he probably smacked his wife around.  He talks about being innocent every episode yet never shows his proof he just talks nonsense with his stack of papers just like mentally ill people do.  He has showed that he is lazy and not only does not know how to work does not even want to. He has no concept of what a friend is.

That's a harsh take IMO. I'd say he's very competitive but self-centered. He shouldn't blame his poor golf or lack of mental toughness on his caddy but at the least should have set ground rules for his buddy who's caddying for him. As far as working hard, I don't know where you get that he's lazy. It seems to me that Burk does everything he can to get to the range as often as possible.

Yup. Whatever sympathy I had for the guy went down the toilet last night.

In his formative years, he never had to work for anything, so he has arrested development and is completely ego-centric.

I have seen most of the episodes and held off forming an opinion of him but after last night I have to agree that this guy needs mental health care much more than a golf career. Even if he fired off career low rounds in Q School and made the Tour there is no way mentally he could sustain such a lifestyle. The dead giveaway was how he treated his friend, caddie, and financial backer. This isn't the behavior of a sound mind. I hope if he gets anything out of this show it's to get some help he really needs. Otherwise he should be insitutionalized along with all the other mentally ill homeless.

This show would be great if his caddy would smack the sh**t out of him.

I think I see the beginnings of a new show for the Golf Channel:   " Golfers Who Need the Sh*t Smacked Out of Them ".       It could feature 3 different players in a 30 minute segment, with some short interviews and clips so the viewers see why they need to be smacked, and then a good beat down by an appropriate person.     They could start with the Pipe Dream guy, many of the contestants on Big Break (just think Giuliani), and  all the guests so far on The Haney Project.      Hell, Rush Limbaugh alone would be worth an hour special edition of smacking.     The series could expand to celebrity editions, and maybe even offer a guest slot every once in awhile for everyday people like us to nominate someone for a beating.      Hmmm, I'm beginning to like this idea!

I think by lazy he means taking the time to find a real job and getting his life together. Him getting to the range as much as possible ain't paying the bills. The guy has a lawyer working for free, sleeps in free housing, and has to get money from friends to get to q-school. You can see through out the show the guy always had the silver spoon and when it got pulled out of his mouth he had no idea what real life is about. I don't wish bad on the guy but he needs to find reality.
