If you have a modern 9.5 degree driver, do you hit it straight consistently ? I mean like 10/14 shots on the fairways.

Don't know yet.  I just bought a 9.5* driver but have only been to the range 3 times with it.  I have not been on the course with it yet.    It's adding alot of extra distance over my 10* Callaway diablo Edge but it seems to be a tad less accurate.  Not sure if I'll be able to

hold the fairways

I just switched from a TM 9.5 stiff to a Cleveland 10.5 reg. No I was not able to hit consistently with the 9.5. I am hoping with a higher lofted club and flex that matches my average swing speed 0f 88 that I will be consistent.

I use a 10.5 degree driver and as of late have hit that fairly consistently... In high school at one point I used a 9.5 degree and it was pretty consistent for me as well.

I have a 9* MacGregor NVG2 with a Stultz stiff shaft and a Nike VR 420 cc with a PX 6.0 shaft. As for hitting them straight, it depends on the day. Some days I can't do anything wrong and others I resort to my 3w.

I had 7.5 * titleist 975D that I've hit consistently. And switched to 909 D2 9.5* (that is the lowest they offer) and hit that consistently also but with more distance.

As we know, club loft is different than effective loft" (impact) a 9.5 degree driver might be at 11 degrees at impact. The shaft has a lot to do with ball flight and distance. I have played for years with an SMT head 7-degrees with a Stiff Pro Force shaft. I have tried going to Taylormade 8.5 and 9.5 lofts but the launch monitor and on course trials show that I hit the old 7-degree farther and straighter....go figure

We all are different...that is good

as a habitual slicer, i found i keep the ball lower with my 9.5 than my 10.5 & slice less ... works better for me.

I have always had 9.5 since I was a kid.  Now I have the Titleist 909 D2 9.5 and hit it straighter and farther than any driver I have had yet.

Do my best driving with 8*, 8.5*, 9*, and 9.5* heads.  Have played others below 8* and above 10*, didn't prefer them.

9.5 is optimal for me. My good shots are better with lower-lofted drivers, but my bad shots are horrendous.

I tend to generate a high spin rate with my driver so 9.5 driver helps to reduce my spin rate which also helps with accuracy.  Actually, with the new 910 I just bought, I have it .75deg strong so my driver actually plays 8.75deg.  I haven't checked the spin rate witih this setup but have certainly noticed a much straighter and less "ballooning" ball flight.
