What DON'T you consume before/during a round?

I treat golf like any other athletic activity, so I like to stick to water to drink before/during, and avoid heavy meals in the hour or two before.  If I'm planning ahead, I'll avoid coffee (and I virtually never drink soda so that , de facto, means no caffeine) the morning of the round.

In the bag:
FT-iQ 10° driver, FT 21° neutral 3H
T-Zoid Forged 15° 3W, MX-23 4-PW
Harmonized 52° GW, Tom Watson 56° SW, X-Forged Vintage 60° LW
White Hot XG #1 Putter, 33"

I avoid all drinks that do not contain caffeine or alcohol. Usually a full throttle blue finished by the 2nd hole and the beers start whenever the cart girl first shows. 4 beers is perfect for a round, a 5th may ruin the last couple of holes.

I have to drink coffee before a round, I find it always gives me a kick start and also always have something to eat ie a chocolate bar or a sausage roll etc while playing to keep my concentration going. I hate feeling hungry while on the course. I never ever eat indian food 36 hours before as it goes through me like a ferarri and i always suffer for a day or so afterwards.

The schoolteacher was taking her first golfing lesson. "Is the word spelt p-u-t or p-u-t-t?" she asked the instructor. "P-u-t-t is correct," he replied. "Put means to place a thing where you want it. Putt means merely a vain attempt to do the same thing."

Full Throttle blue is amazing, unfortunately I have not been able to find it around here lately :(

I usually go with orange juice and a banana before a morning round. At the turn I grab a nature valley trail mix bar and a gatorade. If there is no halfway house, I bring my own stuff. Important to stay hydrated on the course. Sometimes I like to bring sunflower seeds out there. I don't spit them on the green, so if you see them there it wasn't me.

Caffeine and alcohol are the popular "no-nos" on here, but I have found them both to have a minimal impact on my golf game. I can see why some people are against them though when golfing. I just haven't seen the difference personally.

I don't know that I've really ever watched what I eat or drink before a round, but if it's a morning tee time I won't eat a big breakfast.  Because I know roundabout 9am I'll have to visit the sandtrap to leave a present.

During a round I usually pass on the Chinese buffet at the halfway house, MSG issues.  And cake is pretty hard to sneak on the course, so I just wait until I get home for that.

What types of food/drinks do you avoid when golfing?

I'm with you on coffee. If I want to poop, I'll drink coffee, but I (like whiskey84) certainly don't want to be pooping on the course.

For a while I would stay away form McDonalds. Although I love their breakfast food I would have something against Egg McMuffins or McGriddles before a round. I would never play well if that was my breakfast. But I broke that mold Monday as McDs was the only thing around and I was in a pinch for time. I went bogey-free! Bring on the Egg McMuffins!!! When time allows my typical pre-tourney breakfast is a Grand Slam with wheat pancakes, egg whites and turkey bacon. Just the right amount of food.

I really dont avoid anything drink wise.  I chugged two monsters before a round one time and played great, but i now know to avoid taco bell before golfing..that was a terrible round.

One of my friends who shoots at around a 16 handicap told me he was +4 on the front nine of a rather challenging course then blew up for a +21 on the back. I asked him how that happened and he said that he drank about 10 beers over the course of the round.

So my answer would be alcohol.

I am fortunate. I have a customer that orders me a case every 3 weeks. It is getting harder and harder to find out there otherwise.

No alcohol.  Lots of water, and usually a plain whole wheat or rye bagel for breakfast.

Coffee is OK when I get up in morning, but no coffee and doughnuts 15 minutes before the scramble tees off.

During round I drink water on front nine, but get some sports drink on back nine. Usually eat trail mix at turn.

No alcohol until the 19th hole, and no chocolate bars (upsets stomach in heat).

Focus, connect and follow through!

I have to have my morning coffee, period. Problem is that it usually wakes my bowels up too. Lucky for me that I'm a early riser, so the coffee and morning dump are usually completed before I leave home. I recently went to the Texas Valero Open. I got up extra early for that just because I wanted everything to come out OK before leaving. A good AM dump = a great start to the day! :)

You'd be wise to stay away from that place at all times, lol.
