I could hit my old 5 hybrid about 175 and then about 2 months ago I broke the shaft in it. I recently replaced it with a similar model hybrid but couldnt get a graphite shaft and opted for steel, im lucky to hit it 160-165 at best but I can control it better and hit more consistent shots and will vary how hard I swing and choke up and sometimes use it for 145-150 yard shots as well as I'd rather hit it than my 6 or 7 iron. It gives me a much better chance to hit the green.

Driver-Taylormade Burner Ti 420 cc 10.5 deg reg flex
3 wood-orlimar rcx 14 deg
Hybrids-warrior golf 20 deg, 23 deg and 26 deg
6-pw-AFFINITY / ORLIMAR HT2 irons steel shafts, reg flex, 56 deg tour series wedge

It doesn't matter if you are a 100 handicap. Statistics are essential. The last thing you want to do is hit a perfectly good shot but it ends up short or long because you didn't know your distance.

Depends on the day... I could chip it 20 yards... Knock it down and hit it 150... Hit a solid stock smooth one 195... Putt with it... Hit it from 100 yards... Or duff it 5 feet... Which shot would you

I'll on average hit my 5 iron about 200 yards.

I base all my yardages off of my "summer distances" where my 5 iron is 200 yards and my 9 iron is 150 yards. I then club myself accordingly for everything else based off of these two clubs. In colder weather, I use the formula where you lose 1 yard for every 3°F below 85°F (basically at 55°F I need 1 more club).

im 18 and im hittin my 5 iron about 250 average with it. i did reach 300 yard several times. i usually out drive my driver.

If I nuke it with a hood-faced, strong lofted, graphite shafted, SGI 5 hybrid down an airport runway with Category 5 hurricane force tailwinds I can hit it as far as some of the 25 handicappers on here.

About 190 usually. Can go from 180-200 depending how hard I swing though.

Waiting out the 2 feet of snow that just dropped on the course....

I don't carry a 5 iron anymore but hit my 26 degree Nickent hybrid 185 under normal conditions.

I always pull the five from the 200 stake and I don't think I hit particularly long so Internet distance aside these numbers seem kind of low.

      It may not have been block practice, though, is one of the main points here. You may have been serving and from the same place, but you were likely trying to do slightly different things. It seems that would only be blocked practice if you were trying to hit the same exact ball hit to you to the same exact place in the far court. I'm not sure that's as random as if the ball that you're given to hit is at different places, too, but again…

      I played tennis in college. I thought block practice was great for serves because you were starting the point and  you could easily adjust where you wanted to place the ball based off the same motion. I equate those to tee balls. I despised block practice for groundstrokes once you reached a certain level and your fundamentals were good. To me, hitting a 100 crosscourt backhands in a row was silly because I would never do that in a match. I needed to randomize it by hitting some deep, some angled, all with different speeds and spins. I share that same thought about iron play. Because we seldom hit the same approach shots hole after hole, I prefer to practice irons randomly.
