Do you have any irrational habits about golf?

I just noticed this yesterday.  When I sink a really nice putt I will sort of make a holder with my left hand and then act like I am sheathing a sword with my putter.

Only one tee, ball marker and repair tool in my RIGHT pocket. I cringe when I see people play with their wallets and phones in their pockets.

I never take my glove off until the end of the round - even for putting.

I never wear shorts.

I never wear sunglasses when swinging a club.

My clubs must be clean before each round.

I tee up the ball so it shows the least amount of logo/graphics.

I only interlock my fingers when putting.

I don't know how people can putt with a glove on.....I certainly wouldn't be able to do it

Why would it bother you if another player keeps his wallet in his pocket?  Yourself I can see, but someone else?

I guess in Calgary shorts aren't as necessary as in other areas.  You might change your tune if you were teeing off and the mercury was topping 105°. (I lived in Great Falls, Montana for 9 years so I know where you're coming from.

I change my own grips.  Always.

I never, EVER, use the alignment aid on the golf ball when putting.  I must have a clean look at address.

I will give away balls I find 99% of the time.  Most of them are not "up to par".  I'm pretty picky, don't lose many that I do have, and am good for a year or two at least.  Srixon Z Star currently.

I must have clean grooves, and take a tee to them after each shot.  First spit and then a towel though.

I usually do NOT tee the ball up on a par 3.  Sometimes I will do the "Laura Davies" and make a mini diviot with the toe of the club, held "upside down" and play from the slightly raised bump of turf.  Sometimes I will just place the ball down all pretty like and play away.   Especially for the short irons.  I have to get to about a 6, maybe a 5 iron or longer to tee it up.  Even then, it's not teed up much at all.  I'm a digger and don't want that thing above the ground much at all.  Divots like a 1977 Playboy.  Yeah!!!!

I hate it when people attached their sweat soaked gloves to the frame of the golf cart.  It's not overly disgusting or anything, I think's it's just "hacker"-ish or "beginner"-ish

I have never owned a ball retriever in my life.  If I do get one wet, if I can't reach it with an iron, it wasn't meant to be mine anymore.  You can have it.  Get your telescopic moron stick out of your bag!

Once a ball has been played, it's done.  I might use it on the par 3 course nearby when playing with my two sons, but other than that it's pretty much done.  The incredible durability of the Srixon Z Star is challenging this, and it is VERY difficult to determine a brand new rock from one that I just hit 75-85 times. I just don't know what to do.

I NEVER aim for a 100, 150, 200 etc yard marker on the range.  Range balls go absolutely nowhere, and I don't want my head clouded by distances from shots hit on the range.  Instead, I'll hit short irons TOWARDS the 200 marker/flag, and try to hit them on-line with it... looking for accuracy of line only, not distance.  Same for longer irons... I fly em right over the 100 or 150 with zero concern for distance, only LINE.

I play forged irons, so the feel of a well struck shot tells me all I need to know about distances and carry both on the range and on the course.

When given the option of a pitch with a sand wedge or a bump and run with an 8 iron around the green, the 8 comes out every chance I get.  It's deadly.

I paint filled my Scotty Cameron with colors of my own choosing (Master's Green and White) and did the same with my Vokey Sand Wedge.  Cart girls usually dig it.

I tend to screw with other groups when their carts are parked next to ours.  Today I said more than loud enough for the strangers one hole over to hear "I can't believe you hit a wedge 155 yards!!!" in the direction of my playing partner.  He took the bait and said, "One groove low though."

It's ok to have a beer on the course at 10 am.  Not so much at home.

I have moved sleeves around in a several boxes of balls to get a dozen that are #1, #2 and #3 only.  Don't know why though.  I do like the occassional big number.

I've played many rounds it has hit 30*+ C ( it happens in Calgary even ) but I still prefer pants to shorts. I just prefer the look/feeling of pants when I golf. And I don't sweat any more so than I would in shorts.

I cringe when I watch people with their pockets full, because it looks uncomfortable to me. Cringe is a hyperbole I guess

I concur.  My pockets have tees and a marker in the front right, and nothing in the back pockets.  Front Left pocket is useless, you can't feel what you are grabbing for (tee, penny) with a glove on.

I also don't like it when people can't mark their ball properly.  One hole its behind the ball, next hole it's on the side, next hole it's the other side.  I don't complain or anything, just notice it and wonder who taught them how to mark their ball?  Then I silently thank my grandfather for introducing me to this grand game...

I never keep anything other than balls, tees, markers, a glove or scorecards in my pockets during a round. I never ever take my phone on the course either, I have a tendancy to check my phone every five or ten minutes at least. Being able to relieve myself of that for a few hours does wonders!

Yep. This is the same for me -- I hate the alignment aids because I feel like it's too easy to get the alignment aid wrong.  I mark my ball with four dots (my last name initial in morse code) and I generally put the mark 'up' and make sure that it is *not* at all in line with my putt.  An anti-alignment aid?

When I got started about two years ago, my father-in-law gave me his copy of Hogan's Five Lessons.  I liked the discussion, and decided to put together a complete Hogan bag.  ...and I don't want to get a new driver/wood/hybrid/putter because it will break up my "Hogan" bag.  (I even went out and bought a box of Hogan Apex Tour balls off ebay!)

I played a round and did really poorly --- then noticed that I'd kept an extra club in the bag after a range session.  I figure the golf gods punished me for carrying a 15th club, and I won't do that again. ...In fact, I often carry only 12 or 13...

Finally, I never add up my score while I play. I wait until I've finished 18 because I figure I'll start screwing up a good round if I know exactly how close I am to a personal best.

I don't like too many things in my pockets, and I never wear sunglasses but always a hat.

Nothing in the pockets but a marker and divot tool. I started using a glove for the first time last year. I'm not sold on them. Full hats, forget it. Visors are OK. No sunglasses. I will tee a ball on a par 3 but only if it's a tee laying in the box already, I won't use a perfectly good tee if none are available. I'd rather just lay the ball down and make the best lie possible. When I pull the flag, I always put the pin end down first with the flag staff in the crook of my putter and then lower it accordingly. I find it annoying to see others pull the flag and then drop it from 2-3 feet off the ground.

Have a tendency of always wearing my glove when putting.  Lately I have been making the effort to remove it while putting because it has been so hot and humid, but I really do not notice much difference with or without the glove in terms of putting.

I always have to carry at least 2 extra balls in my right pocket.  The left pocket is reserved for tees, chapstick, and my ball marker/divot tool.  Phone, wallet, keys stay in the cart or in my bag.

Always have to wear a visor hat even if it is cold and cloudy.

Tees in the left front pocket, ball marker and repair tool in the right front pocket, scorecard in the back left pocket.

One time I accidentally put the ball marker in the left front pocket, and the imbalance caused me to sprain my back when I drove off the following tee. Don't mess with a ritual.

1) If I'm riding in a cart with someone else, I don't drive.

2) I never take a gimme on 18...I always have to putt out.
