Are you still at Brookwater?

I am going to be attending the QLD open in a few weeks, are you playing? If so I will look out for you from the gallery.

Have you ever played at Hills International at Jimboomba? This is the longest course in the southern hemisphere and where Jason Day learnt to play.

Making the Tour IS TOUGH. I've tried it and I have a zero handicap. I came extremely close to making the NIke Tour (which it was called then). The key is really to set small goals for yourself and not think big picture. Take it step-by-step. Make a list for yourself and focus on that next goal. For example, play four rounds of golf in a row on a Championship course and try and shoot four good consistent scores in a row. Many people can shoot great rounds of golf consistently but can't do it 4 days in a row.

What killed me was finances. I just couldn't afford to keep trying. I literally went broke. And to be honest, that's what kills most people.....$$$$. It takes a lot of money and a lot of dedication to make it.

Pretty cool that we have a guy who actually followed up on his original thread.  And pretty incredible that he went from a 22 to roughly scratch in about a year.

This seems pretty accurate. There are plenty of "good" players that would be able to do well if they were independently wealthy or had sponsors. Golf is one of the few sports that is cost prohibitive to becoming really good and playing at a higher level.

Is that verified, becaues if so, that is pretty incredible?  And also the first of "these" types of threads that are actually real as far as I know.

"Maybe". That's the best way to think.  Everyone can judge your past but only you can find your future. Probably total dedication is needed to succeed and that includes all aspects of life. Any confusion or questioning of goals or wondering if that 'toke on the pipe' will help or hinder cannot be beneficial to your plans.  Just look at Rors and his life confusions at this  time.  Perhaps he is suffering from various life decisions which distract his attentions away from  golf.  Ian Poulter and Robert Rock and Lee Trevino all worked at driving  ranges early in their careers so it's a reasonable path. Best wishes.

And even more incredible that people believe it when he has ignored requests for evidence.

Golflink (Australia) link will prove it. But he won't do it.

Well, to be honest I only looked at the first 3-5 posts and then the last days worth.  My instincts tell me he's not full of sh** like most of these other types of threads, but it's not verified.  I suppose we may find out soon though, if he's gonna be in that tournament.

I'm putting myself in the doubtful side of this thread. 22 to 1 in a year seems stupid-fast. And I'm also in the school of thought that if one really is good enough to consider going Pro, he wouldn't be on a golf forum asking internet-strangers whether or not he can do it. Just with that, I'd say not a chance. I feel like the guys who have maintained successful Pro Golf careers, in whatever Tour they play, know and firmly believe they belong out there.

Also, I can never take any one serious who types with such poor grammar. That almost always trips my troll-alarm.

Precisely.

It is total BS.

One thing the outliers like Poulter and Greg Norman have is incredible self belief.

I seriously doubt that if this forum had existed when they were starting out they'd be asking strangers if they had a chance.

The idea is absurd.

The attitude would be "Every line you read where a 20 marker is talking about his blades and the "feel" of his SC putter is a ball you didn't hit on the practice fairway."

Agreed, but Shorty has good knowlege of how they do things in Australia. He is a little bit on the crusty side, though. Instinct seems to indicate he is doing it. I'll wait for Shorty to verify.

How much does anyone think that a 22 handicapper can lose in a year if you can practice for 4 hours a say?

Scratch seems awfully low, but I think 3-4 would be achievable.

He is not doing it. He is lying.

The only way to have a valid handicap in Australia is to post scores in club competitions and state and national medal competitions like Vardon events.

The OP can simply take a screenshot of his scores over the year and erase his Golflink number if he likes.

They go back 4 years.

I can guarante you that he will not respond to this and post the images because it is all BS.

His Golflink record will show dates, courses, scores and "played off" and "played to" numbers.

Thanks for the information, I kind of guessed that it is not easy to have a handicap in Australia. BTW, I am guessing that 4 years ago you had a 14 handicap? :-P).

    • Day 60 - 2024-11-29 Got about 3.5' of snow today, so I was going to go to Golf Evolution, but… I only left the house to throw some snow. Instead, i checked out my putting stroke on HackMotion in the basement. Turns out… it's pretty good, and I'm very in touch with what I'm doing.

After 4 worlds I run out of worlds that have the letters I've already found that can be combined with the remaining letters.. just repeated the 4th world to knew the answer. I know the world but it never came to my mind.
