I just saw them at the Sybase, as I have the past several years. Creamer is always frowning and doesn't interact with the crowd Gulbis chats up a storm with her fans and is the LPGA's most requested pro-am partner. In 2008 she (Natalie) was given the Mousie Powell Award (player whose attitude best exemplifies the qualities and values of sportsmanship) by her peers., So I don't know how you could say what you did about the likeability factor.

I guess your experience was different than mine. I had a nice talk a few years ago with Paula while walking up the 9th hole at the Ginn at Reunion resort. She was out of contention and had a small gallery. She seemed pretty laid back. She hit a good drive and walked right beside me off the tee, so I started talking to her. After she hit her second shot she came back by the ropes to finish our talk as we walked up to the green finishing her round.

I met Erica at the PGA show this year, and while she was very friendly, she has yet to acheive her potential on the tour. She has the talent to play well, but she enjoys her party time more than her practice time. I supposed it's equal parts lack of discipline and lack of desire. Erica has a great personality, at least off the course...

That's great you had a positive experience with Creamer, but based on what you posted that's not enough for you to conclude that she's more likeable than Natalie. You like her better, that's fine, but there's no arguing with Gulbis' likeabilty.

On the course, whether in contention or not, Gulbis always allows her personality to shine and is constantly chatting it up with the fans and marshalls alike. For this reason, she doesn't have small gallaries when she's out of it like you said Creamer did. Natalie is one of the most, if not the most popular player with fans AND PEERS alike. There are tons of internet stories of fans running into Gulbis at Rio Secco and Reflection Bay (her home courses) and being treated like a long lost friend. And like I stated earlier, her fellow pros gave her the Mousie Powell award, which is basically about likeabilty. Again, I'm sure Paula's a nice girl, but to conclude she's more likeable than Gulbis just because she talked to you is a bit of a reach, given Natalie's reputation.

I agree, and her bio is interesting. Who would think that a Russian golfer would be this good and so good looking as well? It appears that she has a great future ahead of her.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
