What You're Thankful (Golf-wise) This Year?

Thanksgiving is rapidly approaching in the U.S., so I'd like to start a thread where people can list the things - the top one, three, or twenty seven, I don't care - that they're thankful for with their golf.

I'm thankful for:

• Getting to work with Dave Wedzik and being able to bounce ideas around, regardless of how weird.
• Getting to travel the country to teach people golf.
• This forum, and the members, because I'm passionate about golf and it's fun to know so many like-minded folks.
• That the game I love is fairly accessible and never-endingly frustrating. :-)

I'm very thankful to be able to work with Steve Sieracki.

I'm very thankful for this website and all the cool people I've "met" and interacted with on this site. I've learned so much from all of you.

I'm thankful Mike joined the fray recently, as well as the other pros who I secretly wish posted more.

And of course, Erik. I don't want to suck up too much, but you really set me down the right path.

I'm thankful for:

- Actually being able to play through the back pain (and frustration) this year.

- Having a boss that let's me use half days which extends the number of rounds I am able to play during the year.

- The cold weather holding off this long

- Courses that have lowered rates during the fall/winter

- The guy that got beaned in the forehead on Sunday appeared to be OK

For this site because it gives me a place to talk golf as well as learn.  Also, for the jack-ass that stole my clubs because I ended up with a nicer set.

I am thankful for my golf buddy Mike . I aspire to be the golfer he is but with better putting

Thankful that I get to play golf with my grandchildren from time to time.  I have introduced five of them to the game and given them each their own set of clubs.  It is a blessing to be able to spend quality time with them in this way and see them progress.  And we have fun in the process!

Thankful to my boss, who guilted me into playing a scramble tournament at the very end of last year ... didn't even want to play & tried hard to get out of it - at 46 years old, never had any interest in golf whatsoever.    That one outing totally hooked me - this year, joined a club, and when the dust settles, will have played close to 90 times with a whole lot of range sessions thrown in, bought countless clubs - I have become obsessed (my wife called it GOLF OCD).    I wish I started earlier in life, but I am thankful I at least started when I was athletic enough to develop a respectable amount of game.        I am truly thankful I bit the bullet & went to that company outing against my will ... I owe my boss a new set of clubs when he retires !

PS - also very thankful for this place - learned a TON this year from you guys !

I am thankful for:

1. The boss I have. By offering me a free stake and position in his business (golf academies and golf course design), he proved he was a good person with a heart of gold. He also showed the sort of person he was by overlooking a serious argument we had had 6 years earlier. We have been good friends since 1992. Without him, I don't know where I'd be right now.

2. Having a job I love and that is also my hobby. Waking up each morning without that feeling cannot be put into words - I know what it is like to work in a corporation for 10 years (09:00 to 19:00 every day, Monday through Friday)! ;-)

3. The Sand Trap - to Erik for making it happen and giving away so much free content, and to all the members for making it what it is ... and putting up with me! I'd also like to say how much I have enjoyed the addition of Mike to the forum.

4. Golf Evolution - for finally giving my golf game and golf instruction focus after 23 years of just winging it. Thanks Dave, Erik, James and Mike!

I am thankful for:

-My wife; she knows that I am addicted to playing golf and encourages me to play more.

-My Father in Law; he loaned me my first set clubs. They were ancient but, i still enjoyed playing with them.

-My 4 year old son; He is constantly badgering me to go out in the back yard to hit balls.

-My job; I can take 2 hour lunches and squeeze in 9 holes in the middle of the day.

-Breaking my leg 2 and a half years ago; I've always seen myself as awesome (still do), but at 32yrs old and 360 pounds, I was definitely not as awesome as I thought. Breaking my leg enabled me to take a look at things and find a better place in life and on the golf course. I can now walk the course and have the stamina to play as many holes in a day as possible. Got in 45 holes a couple weeks ago. Sure as hell wouldn't have been able to do that weighing 360.

I am thankful that my wife likes to play. We get to golf on vacation together at places like Port Royal in Bermuda!

I am also thankful that my shoulder recovered after surgery.  At one point in July, I had almost given up.

I would like to Thank Golf Evolution for their instruction this year.

I am thankful for:

- having a job that pays me enough to fund my outragous golf addiction year-in and year-out

- the birth of my first son this year who will undoutably be on tour in 20 yrs or so!

- all of my friends and my father whom I can always call and get a game with anyday and anytime

Im thankful to my golf coach for helping me to improve my swing.  After finally breaking down and giving lessons a chance Im really glad that I did!
