I am interested in the i20.  I now have a 9 deg ping G10 with a prolaunch red shaft because I want a lowish trajectory and more roll.  Looking at Ping's description of the i20, it looks like this is the driver in their family that is best suited for what I want.

However, I have not heard good things about the predecessor, the i15 driver.

I would be interested to hear general experiences, and also any expert comments on the ping shaft as compared to the prolaunch red.

Had a look at the link, thanks.  I like the look of the i20 and the description of the club sounds ideal for me, so I look forward to hearing your views, thanks.

I had a chance to try out the G20 and the FT iz on the Golf Town launch monitor last weekend. Overall feel of the G20 is noticably lighter than the FT. By that I mean overall weight as well as swing weight. Biggest differrence betweent he two for me was the spin rate. With the G20, I was consistently 3200/3500. With the FT, I was almost always over 4k. When I hit them well, I got 5 or so more yards (launch monitor yards) with the FT over the G20, but on miss hits, the G20 was more forgiving (went further) than the FT. I keep forgetting to bring in my own driver for an apples to apples comparison so have to go back and test again but the G20 felt pretty good. Sorry I don't have more specific details but I was just having fun trying different drivers and not recording test results.

I tried this club at dicks-sporting-goods this morning. Given it was an indoor simulator, and my first swings since October, but i am impressed. The club looks awesome, i feel like i can line this thing up square all day long, just a gorgeous club. The feel of it is great to, you can tell mishits and dead center hits, and dead center feels soft, its really a great club. As for distance, i only look at ball speed on those launch monitors... For a 9 degree club, i had a launch angle of 11-12 degrees, pretty good. My ball speed was 172 mph, in the middle of winter that was amazing. Thats about 5 mph faster than my G10 driver. Given i am probably stronger from getting into better shape, but its still a very very good driver in my initial opinion..

I love the look of it, but since there's so many other cooler options with significant more tech for my golfing level, I'm gonna have to pass. although I might as well try it, I'm begging my sister to bring me to GG today so

Haven't hit one but I saw one at Golftown today, nice flat black head, very badass looking.

lol, I just saw one in person yesterday and wanted to post a thread, but someone beat me to it...

I liked the i15 driver and came close to purchasing it, and the i20 took everything I liked about the i15 and improved upon it...

the way it sets up, the flat black finish, the weight, the head shape...gave me the tingles a little bit man, super cool.

I couldn't hit it though. I have an issue going on with a cut on my finger that's kind of out of control, and didn't have any tape with me. It wasn't worth risking tearing this cut open again and possibly needing stitches to hit a club I can't justify buying at the moment anyway. Maybe next weekend @ the Cleveland golf show!

Yeah i know, i am looking into the taylormade, i wonder if i can go get a taylormade driver painted that black ;b, i am not sure i would get the current R-11, i am not sure how much a difference it makes going from 3 adjustable on the soul to 3 adjustable. Though that driver is making it high on my list. I would go Titliest, but there like apple,  there prices never go down at all, its fricken nuts.. Though i have one of there 3-woods, and i love the 910..

Mine arrives today along with my i20 irons.  I only owned my i15 driver for about 3 weeks (got it used for $90) and the i20 crushed the i15 and my R11 TP.  This is my first real experience with Ping and so far I am impressed with their customer service.  I placed my order on 03-02-12 and 7 days later they will be in my hands.  I waited over 3 weeks for my Adams CB2's to arrive.  And since I don't have irons or driver in my bag a 7 day turn around goes a long way with me.  And the black finish is soooooo sweet.

I just returned from the range and let me tell you the i20 driver is an absolute monster.  It is sits square at address and the the white groves on the face make alignment effortless.  I usually miss on the toe or low heel, today I only missed 2 balls off the sweet spot.  I am using the TFC stock shaft stiff and my lust has turned into love.  Do yourself a favor and try the driver you will not be sorry.  I know this isn't a thread about irons but the i20 irons are amazing.

Looking forward to getting mine.  9.5* stiff in the Project X Black.  I like that the stock length is .50" shorter.  Look for my review in a month or so

I have had the opportunity to play 2 rounds and hit the i20 in 9.5 degree with both he Project x 6.5 and the stock Ping 707 S.   Let me first say the club is a bomber, long and rolls out.  The stock shaft exceeds the Project X in every way.  I started with a PX 6.0 and had to move up to the 6.5 because the head never catches up.  I'm no long hitter and don't claim to touch the 300 + yard drives, but I can consistently hit 230-260.  The X shaft had no control. It seemed to have a mind of it's own and I just couldn't groove it the way the stock Ping shaft did.  With the 707 it is a thing of beauty, control is great and it became a fairway finder. My old driver was a G15 and this was a tough decision for it's replacement.  i20 is great looking, not flamboyant looking (big white blob R11s), a superior powerful thwack at impact and all around nice addition to the bag.  Please be sure to try all combination before purchase it's well worth it.

I bought the 9.5 with the project x shaft. I absolutely love it. I miss with the right to left shot and this club sits so square I have a hard time drawing it. It is definitely better than my old Taylor Made TP. I hit the Rocketballz and Nike Victory. Ping is way better.

I'm looking very hard at this club, I've hit it in two Ping Demo days with the Project X 6.5 and have loved it. Still haven't pulled the trigger yet. The face feels soft on impact and the dispersion when I hit it was very minimal. Great club, so far the best driver I've hit all year.

Pull the trigger. I have a 9.5 degree with the Project X 6.5 and love it. The look, black matte finish and neutral setup (which sets up perfectly square), just suits my eye.

It's taking all of my will-power not to. I got the R11 last year, and I'm still hitting that guy pretty well. I may wait until next season when the i20 drops in price, and also see what Ping lines up for 2013. Either way I'll get more mileage out of my current driver and eventually also get the i20 for a cheaper price or test drive the 2013 drivers.

But still, the i20 is the best driver I've hit yet. I'm going to try out their fairway woods and hybrids next.

    • Day 24: did a stack session. Worked a bit on downswing feels during breaks.
    • Day 444 - 2025-12-18 Light day of hotel room work. GEARS Summit v2.0 today. Good day.
    • Day 38 (18 Dec 25) - got out in the backyard with grandson this afternoon.  We got into a little game of pitching the ball from about 25yds to a target point just off the asphalt lane behind the backyard.  Goal - just clear it with a quick hop and stop.  Focused on using the wedge swing motion I was talking with the course pro yesterday….smooth and thru just bruising the grass.  In addition to a concentrated focus on technique, it also called for a quiet mind locked in on target point.  Rehearsed this with both the 50° and 55° wedges.
    • I listened to the Shaun Webb one about the swing coach app. Sounds like a great thing and will (hopefully) be very useful for me. I do think the hosts are underestimating where AI could be in a few years. Right now it's just regurgitating stuff that it has been told or it has scrubbed from somewhere else and a human guiding things will be quite a lot more helpful than just the AI, but it's going to keep developing and it will reach the stage where it's figuring this stuff out on its own. Time will come when it will have you do a TPI style screen and take various height/arm length/leg length etc. measurements, have you tell it some history and your time constraints and goals and what not and it will watch a video of your swing face on and DTL and it will know exactly what you need to work on.
    • I found it entertaining, but the announcing was lousy.  How did the measuring on the final shot start with Rory being closer and being told he won, and then with no explanation it turns out Scottie won?  Weird.
