I think one thing that gets left out about Tiger is if he is mentally back and by that I mean in his prime he was probably the best mentally on tour. I think a lot of his untouchable mentality was taken from him after his ordeal/divorce. While I'm sure Tiger will get back to winning and win a major I just don't see him being dominant again a big part of him being dominant was his ability to put fear in opponents. Unfortately I think that is gone now so players don't have the Tiger is right there nerves and able to put together solid rounds with Tiger being towards the top.

Frank nobilo said it the best in regards to tigers current comeback stage. When rich lerner commented on golf central that "he is close to winning but far from what he used to be". Nobilo responded quickly with "so is everybody though....everybody in this field is far from what he used to be".

I hope Hunter Mahan continues to play well, that string of 5 Birdies he had would have broken most competitor's will.

lol apparently not. Its all about crying over defending Tigers honour! Anyways I for one am glad he is out now we can see some great matches from the top players in the world.

Rory's going to take Miguel out today. Mahan and Stricker is going to be a great match. Westwood and Watney is a must see as well, today is by far the best day of matches so far. I would Imagine Kaymer will be able to dispatch Kucher but that might be a tough one depending on how Kucher plays. DJ and Wilson play such different styles and that would be a fun one to watch.

Anyways great day of golf today.

I personally like match play, it's like a 18 hole shoot out, come with your best from the giddy-up. Or you're one and done son.  Add the fact that a 16 seed can knock off a top ten player and send him packing. good stuff.

The winner's trophy is named for Walter Hagen.  I guess the PGA is honoring him most of all that way.

For those a bit hazy on 1920's golf, Hagen won five out of the six PGA Championships he played from 1921 to 1927, including four in a row, and finished 2nd in the other one. The PGA was match play at the time. The winner of the Accenture Match Play gets the Walter Hagen Cup.

Does anyone else agree that there should be an age limit for wearing flat brim hats? I don't know when hunter Mahan went to the dark side....cuz he didn't always wear his hats that way. It was probably around the same time they made that ridiculous music golf boys video. At least fowler is under 25 and hasn't realized that he looks like an *******....his driver even has a flat brim head cover. And in fowlers defense, that look brands him and is making him tons of money. I guess I would dress up like a clown if I could make a lot of money. But I guarantee there aren't many kids saying to their parents "can you PLEASE get me a turquoise ping hat that is 3 sizes to big so I can look like hunter Mahan?". I know...off topic

I agree I think it looks terrible, kinda silly.  Does that mean I'm getting old when I don't "get" stuff like that?

Not at all! I'm around the same age as Mahan and I think he looks like an idiot...and I know I'm not alone. When you look at him straight on he looks like he is wearing one those giant plastic old lady visors. I just want to ask him ...."guess who's in town? Flipper!" and then flip his hat off! Ha ha. That was funny in 4th grade but the flat brim was cool never so it would be justified. At least DJ stopped doing and put a little bend in his brim...not totally but at least you can't rest a beer on it like mahans. ;-)

Can you post a picture? The only one I can think of Mahan wearing looks okay, but maybe he's up the ante.

Bad hats are in the eye of the behllder - Greg Norman's cowboy hats, Luke Donald's visor with way too much bend, Justin Leonards short brimmed (it should at least stick out past his face), and whatever Rickie Fowler wears on the practice range, and those little doilies with a brim that old school players (DLIII, Lehman, Ernie Els) wear come to mind.

He definitely upped the ante today. I'll have to find a good straight on pic. His bill is as flat as it can possibly be...looks like he took an iron to it...and it's turquoise...just like his ugly pants

I think it's Westwood's year.  If he plays Rory tomorrow, I'll definitely be glued to every shot of that match.  Looks like it'll be a US v UK final:  my money is on Mahan/Kuchar v. McIlroy/Westwood on Sunday, which will also be great television.
