He felt pain, doesn't mean he seriously injured it.  He chose to be cautious and it may have healed.  Maybe he saw a doctor who told him it was okay to resume golf.  We're not living with Tiger so we can just speculate, but to use the fact he's playing this week to read into what pain or discomfort he felt when he WD isn't fair.

I actually don't even think he said he felt pain, I think he said stiffness.  Stiffness can be a manifestation of a pending pain or injury if rest isn't prescribed immediately, so he was probably being precautionary.  IMO, he has every right to given what he has pushed himself through in the past and how much he has given to the sport.

So you're saying my opinion on that subject is wrong?

Obviously, no, I'm not saying that. Your facts are wrong, which they can be. Opinions cannot be. Misguided, yes. Ill informed, sure. Wrong, no. If I say "In my opinion the sky is beautiful today" that isn't right or wrong. It may be agreed with or disagreed with. But "the sky is a shade of orange" when clearly it's not (no sunset/sunrise, Northern Lights, etc.) at the time is a statement of (incorrect) fact and can be wrong. Let's discuss the actual topic now, please.

Tiger would potentially play SEVEN days in a row because the pro-am is Wednesday.

It will be interesting to see how his body holds up this week. Three weeks in a row did not work. Has he said anything about the reason for the problem? Too much golf or some move in the swing that irritates it? I could see his game suffering the last two days after that much golf. I wouldn't put all my money on him winning at Bay Hill.

I can't understand why people are so interested in WHY he withdrew or argue as to whether he was injured or to what degree.  He is an adult and he can withdraw at anytime for any reason.  Perhaps it was a cost/benefit decision.  Something doesn't feel right.  The benefit of continuing is low because he is out of the race and the cost of continuing is high if he exascerbates an injury and misses the Masters or another prolonged absence from competitive golf.  That doesn't make him a panzy, it makes him smart.  I'm saying this, and I don't even like the guy.  But I can appreciate a smart cost/benefit analysis decision.

No idea; I was just making a one-week-late reply to the original post.

Though if I had to guess, someone looked at his knee funny, resulting in the tearing of his meniscus.

Quote:

Woods met with the media following his pro-am round and said that he played Augusta National Sunday before playing in the Tavistock Cup on Monday and Tuesday. It was a test to see how his left Achilles would feel.

It had been mentioned numerous times this week that Woods would play seven consecutive days between the Tavistock Cup, Bay Hill’s pro-am round and four consecutive rounds of the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

If he makes the cut here at Arnie’s Place, it’ll be eight consecutive days on the links.
