The Thursday rain would come in the afternoon according to forecasts. If (a big "if") they did "lift, clean and place" they would have to do so at  the beginning of the round, correct?

Any big names that don't play the best in the wind to rule out?  Thoughts?

Rory is known as a questionable wind player because he hits the ball so high.  As he continues to develop he will certainly learn to play more trajectories, but when he made the decision to play the US tour one of the points that was made was that our courses and conditions fit him better because of less windy conditions than in Europe.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

What do you think the odds of playing a 54 hole tournament, or having a 36 hole Sunday finish might be? That weather report looks pretty sketchy.

I just checked the weather.com forecast, and it shows a afternoon thunderstorms possible for tomorrow, and early morning showers (40%) on Friday, but good weather other than that.  Winds moderate, no more than 15 MPH for the week.

Certainly not the worst Masters weather in recent memory.  Remember the buried lie that Weir had on the Sunday when he won?  It was wet that year.

Let's just say that I'm glad I didn't make this year my trip of a lifetime to Augusta from Australia.

I fully expect to wake up tomorrow to watch the first round and see a "Weather delay" icon somewhere on screen.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

pity about the weather ... i think it'll spoil probably one of the most eagerly anticipated Masters tourney for a number of years.  if there's "lift, clean and place" and soft, slower (all relative, of course) greens ... it won't "feel" like a "normal" Masters.  any bomb and gauge player can win.  as Phil says, the advantage for the veterans is nullified.  who's up for a different version of the Bob Hope Classic? meh ... thanks but no thanks !

OK stuck at work, apparently shot tracker is not doing the Masters? Is there web coverage? Anyone know the best way to keep track if all they have is the net?

I don't know how much bandwidth abuse you can get away with, but the Masters website, http://www.masters.com, will have live streaming coverage starting later this morning.

Thanks a lot! I'm watching the honorary tee-off video now, so hopefully the stream will work on that site too later.

I just leave the leaderboard up for now.

Amen Corner coverage starts at 10:45am online. I wonder if it's on DirecTV too?

I'll watch TV coverage later.

Funny, I had a feeling Harrington was a bit on form a couple of days ago. Yesterday I stuck a tenner on him at odds of 122. Then he won the par 3 contest. Just now there was a tv snippet at Augusta where the players were asked who they think might win this year...

"Tiger"
"Rory"
"Lee Westwood"
"Donald"
"Me" (said seriously)
"Rory"
"Tiger"
I scrubbed back to find out who the "Me" was and it was none other than Mr Harrington.
He's a dark horse, mark my words! ;)

Since there's no TV coverage yet, and no Shot Tracker, does anybody know of a site where they are giving a play by play of Tiger's round?

Tiger hits a snap hook on 1  into a tree and comes up short with his 5 (?) wood second off the pine needles. No low scores at all so far with -1 leading.   Edit: Live blog http://blogs.golf.com/presstent/2012/04/2012-masters-tournament-round-1-live-blog-1.html You can watch it on ESPN, Sportscenter shows some shots.

He saved par though. OMG guys Tiger is just two back!!! :-D

    • Day 314 - Putting some things together. Better grip/setup, fuller backswing, better finishing position. Filmed some swings, happy with the progress.
    • Day 130: did a stack session.
    • Day 206 (24 Nov 24)  - An easy session with the 54deg wedge and hard foam balls / one simple goal - distance control thru backswing length while not decelerating.  Had a playing partner comment they noticed me decelerating on a couple short wedge shots in last round.  Hit from distances from close to 40yds down to 20.
    • Musgrove Mill hole #15 was converted to a par 3 after Hurricane Helene. Today, I had 145 from the tee which is a perfect 9-iron for me. I aimed just right of the hole and pulled it a few feet. Clanked off the stick down into the hole and ricocheted out of the hole 13’ away. Drained the putt for a birdie after repairing the hole which was damaged . Not sure if it would have counted as a HIO, but I was pretty excited!
    • Day 55 - 2024-11-24 Did five levels of Operation 36 on GSPro (different courses). 🙂 Was -4 from 200 yards (32) intentionally laying up on each hole (i.e. not hitting a 5I or something). Shot… 22, 24, 26 from 25, 50, and 100 yards. I forget my 150-yard score, but obviously it was < 36. Putting was odd… (and I did it with the wedge or a 7I or whatever was in my hand).
