But he has a nice personality and many millions in the bank.

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Heh I texted my dear friend (who's an Auburn grad) & said Dufner won, but he just doesn't smile much. And he's also getting married next Saturday.

She replied - "No wonder he's not smiling."

2 whole pages.  This event must have been epic?

Anyway, I enjoyed watching the final round.  Setting the recording for 1.5 hours of extra recording time paid off once again.  I half-heartedly predicted (to myself) before the round that Dufner would finally win one, but I was rooting for Ernie all the way.  Seems like his game is back.

Also, it's pretty crazy how thin the line is between avg golf and great golf: Bubba Watson made the cut on the line, and then nearly finished in contention.

BREAKING NEWS!

Despite some 300 unconventional waggles over four days, Dufner wins. Wow!

When asked about Dufner's win, Faldo said, "Ernie gave it to him, he shouldn't have won. Besides, who wants a winner who never smiles?"

Was he talking about this tournament or reading his old press clippings?

Obviously from watching the coverage, it was clear Faldo was rooting for Ernie. I kinda was too, it's good to see Ernie back in form though. He could have had two wins already.

Now watching "the duff" play, is like watching paint dry. No emotions what so ever. How the heck is he getting married, to that hot brunette? Oh ya, money, it's always money.

Boring tourney though overall. I'm looking forward to this week. We have Phil, Tiger, Rory, and a slew of other great players with personality.

That's why Phil has been my favorite golfer since he first came on the tour. He's always exciting to watch, and just very happy out there.

Perhaps Dufner just needed something to smile about. Now that's he's surpassed Rickie Fowler's career PGA Tour win total he might loosen up.

I really wanted Ernie to win but I also liked Dufner. Hopefully Ernie will get it done sometime this year.

He has a second persona to hide. He has to stay under the radar. Do you see the resemblance?

Why is it people find Dufner so hard to watch?  The waggles don't annoy me.  They're actually pretty rhythmic, so compared to Keegan's spastic pre-shot behavior it's sort of relaxing to me.  And as far as not smiling much...does that really make him boring?  I find him easy to watch.  I'd say I'm indifferent on him to be completely honest.

My posts were meant to be satiric.

I actually think Dufner moves along pretty good and there is nothing wrong with his waggles. And him not smiling - didn't bother me.

I was annoyed at the announcers letting me know. Over and over and over again.

Dufner showed some emotion when he relaxed right after the win.  Not everyone is like Bubba when it comes to letting it all out ....

Must feel great to get his first win but I'm an Ernie fan and didn't like seeing him miss that putt for the win.  Still he was putting quite well overall this week, at least what I saw of it.  There's life in the "old" guy yet.

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
