I'd like to see a student actually improve by leaps and bounds. Isn't that what an instruction show should be all about? Not the scenery, the celebrity, the name dropping, the zen master-ish statements, no cult of personality. Just... plain... someone... improving... Sheesh. This show should be called Failed Projects.

Like I said, there's still a chance things get interesting if Phelps breaks out his bong and Hank starts talking about things he shouldn't talk about. And if he gets the munchies, will he still be afraid to ask for a popsicle?

Some good points here. I think the recipe of 4 last season was not very interesting and I lost total interest in the season. I watched the first 2 but by the end I could not care who won. Charles Barkley was a such a interesting case, that I think that carried the show, and the golf channel must have thought that we cared about Hank.

I think they should get some new teachers in the show and let some other pros have a shot. Just watching Haney is getting really really boring.

It really isn't a golf instruction show.  It's more a personality show.  Or a "watch us drive our golf carts to the next hole" show.  I agree that seeing some hack hit 2 or 3 terrible shorts in a row is boring.  Far better if we could see more of the instruction side of it.

Barkley and Romano were head cases. Limbaugh actually got much better, because he worked hard to follow Haney's instructions.  Leonard also showed a lot of progress.  Levine used just about every curse word, Haney didn't need to give instructions on that.  But so little time was devoted to the instructional side.

I agree, Barkley was interesting.  Romano really didn't seem to like Haney or his suggestions and that made it more interesting.  I liked Limbaugh because he really wanted to become a better golfer and believed Haney could help him.  Last season was really bad, the editing and overall production was poor.

Haney is a recognized name and while I don't respect what he did to Tiger, I think they'd have a tough time getting people to watch a unknown teach celebrities how to golf.  I'd also rather watch Haney over Breed, maybe Butch or Foley would be interested.

A new show where they have say 4 golf instructors (maybe with different swing methods) pick 4 people from a pool of non-celebrity golfers (at around the same handicap) and work with them for 6 months where they compete in a tournament at the end might be interesting.

Golf In America.  Worst.  Show.  Ever.

I think this would be awesome. I'm going to go start a thread on this topic instead of taking this thread off-topic.  I'll edit this to add a link if I can.

...and I'd like to see them work with Kelly Slater. (I used to surf.)

The show concept was great unfortunately the person that the show was about was so ungrateful and painful to watch that it made it difficult to root for him to succeed.

I think the concept of having different instructors working with non-celebrity golfers and see how they improve is a good one, but the problem is it is not going to generate ratings.

For some  reason, people are more into what celebs do than themselves.  Barkley is one of of the very few out there that is/was so watchable because of the disaster his swing has become.  Other than him, I am more interested in the instruction and actual playing part than watching Hank and his trophy wife sitting on a plane drinking wine and thinking they are important.

My local instructor is just as good as Haney without Tiger on his resume.

    • Day 457 - 2025-12-31 Stayed after some GEARS Hybrid stuff with my senior girls and got some work in. Also, kicked Tegan's butt at a chipping contest with a wedge that has a lousy toe profile.
    • Day 141 12-31 Reconnecting arm and club face work. Making sure left wrist is arched only on the downswing. Not doing full swings, im pausing at the top and will do a few rehearsals.  Hit a few real balls  after, and had some curve way left.
    • That was a good watch. When I started working on pelvis in the backswing. I thought, this sounds contradictory to those leg straightening threads on the site. Erik has already done a correction. Then the last lesson we went more down the route of feeling the right knee gains flex. It doesn’t, but the feeling keeps my knee position in a good range. Also, I just realized how much extra work my right hip needed to do to stabilize the body with the proper weight shift. Those glute and hip stabilizers got worked. 🤣 I wish this evolution in the golf instruction happened 20 years ago! 😭
    • I've been Playing Golf for: 40 yrs My current handicap index or average score is: 4.0 factor My typical ball flight is: Straight however sometimes slight draw. The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: squirt to the right due to to much arm not enough turn.
