Anyone else in the northern climes frustrated with this weather?

We have a high of 25 this Wednesday, 20 below average for this time of year. I have yet to hit a ball outdoors this year. Last year we hit 80 in march. Just ridiculous. I need to move!

I can feel your pain. Worse yet, I've had 3 days in the high 40s, and not one of my friends could go except to hit the range. I'm chomping at the bit right about now, and next weekend even looks a bit cold.

As I look out my window, it's snowing right now. Anyone have tickets to fly to Florida they don't need?

Yep ... I live in New Hampshire, snowing like crazy right now. The only think keeping me sane is an Optishot sim in my basement. (Ceiling is JUST high enough so I can hit my clubs, without a complete follow through) It's not REAL golf but at least i'm swinging my clubs. Can't wait for spring!!!

Yep -3* here (that's 27* in American). Got a foot of snow last night and more expected throughout the day. Basement hitting net is all I got for at least a couple more weeks.

Yours in earnest, Jason.

Heck yes!  I split my time between Ohio and Virginia (Shenandhoah valley) and managed to sneak 18 in on Saturday.  Came to Cleveland on Sunday while it was pouring rain and snowing in VA.  Gave up on a decent XC ski season in Ohio due to lack of snow and began to itch for golf season.  Now calling for cold and snow for the rest of the week.  Maybe I need to wish for warm in the winter and cold in the spring?

Western Pennsylvania has been tough this winter, too. (Where is global warming when you need it?) The ten day forecast calls for 5 days with precipitation (rain/sleet/snow) and daily highs of 31° to 41°.

Last Friday I finally played my first 18 holes this year - temperature was 45°.  There were only 3 of us on the course.

Drivers: Bag 1 - TM R11 (10.5°); Bag 2 - Ping G5 (9°),
Fairway woods: #1 - TM RBZ Tour (14.5°) & TM System 2 Raylor (17°); #2 - TM Burner (15°) & TM V-Steel (18°)
Hybrid: #1 - TM Rocketballz (19°); #2 - Ping G5 (19°)
Irons: #1 - Ping i3+; #2 - Hogan Edge  (both 4-pw, +1" shaft)
Wedges: #1 - Ping i3+ U wedge (52°) & Ping Eye 2+ BeCu (60°); #2 - Ping ISI Sand BeCu (52°) & Cleveland CG11 lob (60°)
Putters: Ping B60i & Anser 2, Odyssey White Steel 2-Ball & White Hot XG #9, Lamkim Jumbp grips
Golf Balls: Titleist Pro V1, Bridgestone B330, Callaway SR1, Slazenger Grips: Lamkin Crossline

I love this game! :-D

We don't even start to think about hitting outdoors until mid-April in Michigan. Anything earlier is a blessing.

I woke up to 7 below zero on Sunday morning.  Looking at the extended forecast, there does not appear to be much let up.

We have been spoiled the last couple of years.  This year is pretty much the way it should be weather wise...

Sucks for us golfers.  I'm DYING to get this season going!

Alright, already. Uncle. I give. Calgon, take me a way.  Had enough winter already. No such thing as 'global warming' in NE Ohio.  Right now:  15-20 mph winds, snow flurries and mid-20s. Absolutely no end in site. Golf league starts in 2 weeks.  We'll be playing in complete crap weather for a month, guaranteed.

Honestly, if I could pry my wife from Ohio, we'd be living some place like Sommerville, SC TOMORROW!!!  I'd truly love to live in a warmer climate where winter lasts about 2 months and golf season 10 months.  Heat and humidity?  I'll take it over this any day!

Our weather forecast here in Toronto looks pretty much the same.  10 days is being optimistic.  It doesn't look like we will have anything consistently reasonable until mid April!

I moved from Wisconsin to Ohio last year and was hoping to be playing golf by now.  Thus far, its looking like I wont be teeing it up until April.

I was out of the country last week and was delighted that the snow was gone in Boston when I came back Friday night.  We had about 8" of snow this morning.  Crushed my hopes of the courses opening up sooner.

Yep. Snow was starting to go away then it snowed yesterday and today! Oh well supposed to get in the 40s this weekend so hopefully that'll help. I'm ready for my 913 to come in and the snow to go away!

I think the problem is that we have been spoiled the last few winters.  I've averaged at least one round a month in Nov,Dec,Jan,Feb and begin to get several in March.  Not this year.  I think I've played once with a few days where I was able to walk around hitting a 7i when the course was closed.  This year is the winter we used to have but forgot about.

For me, what makes it worse is that I'm going to NC this weekend and snow is actually in the forecast.........yet it was 75 this past weekend.  Oh well, I'll bundle up.

Calgary weather is below average for this time of the year. Just got back form 3 weeks in New Zealand ( home ) and temp didnt drop below 25* celsius ( having a significant drought there though - kinda sad )

Probably wont be golfing in Calgary till mid/end of April at BEST

SUCKS!  Here in NY, there have only been been 4 days over 50 degrees in all of February and March combined.  I was out on the course for one of them, but usually I've played 3 or 4 times by now.  On the plus side, I treated myself to a new RBZ driver with the money I've saved on greens fees by not playing.

    • Rule 1.2b refers you to a section in the Committee Procedures (Section 5I) that helps explain what a Code of Conduct may (and may not) do.  Defining acceptable behavior (including smoking) and applying Stroke of DQ penalties are certainly within the Committee's authority. That Code of Conduct certainly should be available, either in written form or in a webpage accessible to all.  It may not show up on the "standard local rules" for an organization, the "hard card", as it sounds like its a policy of this particular golf course. Assuming that's the case it should show up on the Notice to Players for this particular event.  If you can't find it, ask someone, send an email, try to find out.   In summary, yes the Committee can DQ (or withdraw) a Player for smoking, even before or between rounds.  But its up to you to go from there, communication is the key here.

    • Hmm... I not sure I completely understand. If the course has a no smoking policy, then he shouldn't smoke at the course.  I'm assuming since you are aware of the policy, it must be written down somewhere.  As far as getting disqualified from the tournament, I would think that would be up to the committee. But it feels like it is within their power to disqualify, so why take the chance?
