Most frustrating to me is when I blade like a 40 yard approach shot and it flies 40 yards past the green.  Especially if there happens to be OB or woods behind said green.

last sunday playing a good round come to a par 3 with water to the left, really not an issue, well wtf shanked it left in the drink, okay recover from that and bogy the hole no problem.  next hole par 5 still (sething from the par 3 debacle) knock a good drive middle of the fairway second approch shot 60 yrds from the green YES looking for a birdie tweet tweet, nice little chip i will be on the green, well all hell broke loose caught the club on the ground which opens the face and blow one on the adjacent tee box right no closer but pisses me off (btw no one was on the tee box) now convinced a bogey is in store well the tolet over flows i duff 2 chip shots 20 yrds and finally i am on the green in 5 and 3 f*^$%#$ putt for 9 damn had to shake that chit out of my skull for 2 holes, after that it was smooth sailing.

Great drive sets up a wedge in... theoretically an easy shot.  Blade and goes over.  Makes my blood boil...

this one - on short to medium distance par 4's when I have a nice drive, and I am holding a club I have a high degree of confidence to put it on the green and have a birdie put and I generally top it because my tempo gets to fast from being excited.

A few days ago, I was playing a GREAT back 9, was 5 over going into the 18th hole a 500 yard par 5.  I STRIPE the drive leaving me around 225 out to the green, a 4w should put me close, I get excited top it 15'.  Out of frustration, now at 210, i hit the same club with no practice swing and leave it inches off the green.

Two holes earlier on a short par 4, I hit a nice hybrid off the tee, and at 125 in take a 3/4 PW and shank it into the water, drop another ball, no practice swing, and drop it 5' from the cup, drop the putt for bogey.

In my bag:

some golf clubs

a few golf balls

a bag of tee's some already broken the rest soon to be

a snickers wrapper (if you have seen me play, you would know you are not going anywhere for a while)

and an empty bottle of water

It's the blown chip shot for me. Usually it's leaving it short because I haven't taken enough of a swing. Get's all handsy and weak. I have no doubt I do it 2-3 times per 18. My #1 cause of double bogey. That and bad lag putts are killing me ATM. I'm to the point that if I miss a green I hope it lands in a bunker. I know I'll make a better swing from there.

For me the most frustrating shot it missing a short putt, esp. for a birdie opportunity or to save par.  Over the weekend I had two birdie opportunities where my approach shot came to rest within less than 4' of the pin, missed both of them.  The first one was just a bad read, underestimated the break.  The second one looked great, was tracking right to the hole, but hit the right side of the cup and rimmed out.  Then I converted a 20' putt for birdie late in the round, go figure.  I also missed a couple short putts to save par where the ball looked great heading toward the hole only to hit something on the green close to the cup and bounce off line.  Damn those muni greens!

I'm an oddall 2. THIS.  What makes it doubly frustrating is it can be a turning point moment in the round. You could be on the green putting for eagle or just off the green with a 15-20 yd up and down for bird. Miss it and you're looking at best at a 5 at worst 7 or 8. Still my weakest part of my game.

When im 140 from the green and I think 'either a seven and risk rolling of the back (always dangerous on ky home course) or crush an 8 and get a bit of extra spin to make it hold. Go for the 8i and everything goea wrong. Huge bladed slice into what might aswell be oblivion. Drop a provisional from where the 8i was taken. Change back to the seven and drop it 3ft from the pin. Kill me now!

Mine is fatting (or skulling or hosselling) an 8 iron into the green after a perfect tee shot.  From 8 through wedges is supposed to be my bread and butter.  It's the only clubs I'm good at.  I'm terrible off the tee.  I don't even carry a driver.  About 140 and in is my domain.

So when I crush a 3-wood or Hybrid right down the middle - and I actually have a relatively short shot left - it is a fairly rare opportunity for me. This shot is what I've been hoping for all day!  This is my chance to shine.  Par is a given.  Then I throw up all over myself.

It is hard not to throw the clubs in the pond and walk straight to the car after this.

For me, it's the 80-120 yard wedge from a perfect like that results in a hosel rocket.  Sometimes it derails my entire round.  It's not just the taking double-bogey after a perfect drive on the hole that does it, it's the thought/fear of the shanking the next one that stays with me.

After ripping a big drive on a short hole then blading it long I did this twice on the same hole 2 separate rounds same hole. Then listening to my playing partner tell me I am playing it to far back...wrong I came up out of the shot

    • Ok, I'm trying to find a feel to hit a consistent ball flight (irons).  My current predicament.  1. I try to do the arms down stuff better, with the club feeling like it is way behind me more. It's just a cluster of results. Most of the time, I can't get any speed on the swing. If I get my arms down faster, I just throw them out.  2. I focus all my attention on turning better. Pushing off with my left leg and getting my right side through better. On the DTL view, this doesn't produce anywhere close where the hands and club should be. The result is usually ball first contact, lower ball flight, more centered contact.  At this point, I am going with option 2. Stop thinking about what the hands do. Just make a shorter backswing, keep it wide, turn through. Somehow, the club head finds the ball. My focus is so much on just making sure I turn, it's like, "Oh, that contact was better.... Oh, that bell flight looks playable." If not, I will just be practicing my entire summer.
    • Nope, they spent too much money. They are in over 28 million on the football roster and related NIL compensation at this point. Boosters associated with any Texas college football team has HUGE sway. The AD is between a rock and a hard place. They put a lot of money into Sorsby, at the chance of winning a NC this year. If you move on, you basically wasted a lot.  This is why Ohio State wants 3 QB's they feel can start. That is why the backups the past 5 years at some point transfer. Texas Tech has no backup near the quality of Sorsby. If they move on, they are screwed for 2026.
    • Maybe there's something I still don't understand about the situation. Wouldn't Texas Tech do itself a favor to move on from Sorsby at this point?
    • Day 281 6-10 Full swing, fast, getting low point ahead of "towel".  Working on flow during this seems to help.
