Least favorite: Anything that ever comes out of Johnny Miller's cakehole.

My favorite: Ripped Pajamas (a putt that's lined up just one ball out)

After you've been playing for years you hear most of these, but I have to admit that "condom golf" was a new one for me. I'll be using it. I hit the ball pretty long so when someone suggests that I not go for the par 4 in one, I tell them that I'll play that way when I get old (I'm 50+).

Btw, I have never heard anyone say "nice shot Sally" but that appears to be big in some regions of the country. By me, it's usually Alice (Aliss).

Favorite: When you hit a really good shot and someone says "golf shot"

My favorite I've heard from a pro was Greg Norman - who told his amateur partner after making a good shot - "welcome back to the clubface ball."

Like many, "never up, never in" is my least favorite cliché - yeah and never by and never off the f&%$ing green, dragging your sorry a$$ back to your bag to get your wedge. How about that?

The one most of my buddies have been throwing around lately which drives me nuts is the whole Michael Breed "galf" thing. It usually gets old by the turn.

"Ohh Steve, cmon, hit the damn galf ball!" *everyone chuckles*

"Should've booked our tee time through galfnow.com" When waiting on the first tee.

or the occasional voice mail "Hey! It's me Joe! I'm gonna go ahead and go to Galf now.com and book us a tee time to play some Galf!"

I usually lol, but at this point it's getting old fast.

Agreed... My favorite was hearing a guy after missing yet another 10 footer, he said " dammit *name* your wedge keeps writing checks your putter can't cash!"

    • Rule 1.2b refers you to a section in the Committee Procedures (Section 5I) that helps explain what a Code of Conduct may (and may not) do.  Defining acceptable behavior (including smoking) and applying Stroke of DQ penalties are certainly within the Committee's authority. That Code of Conduct certainly should be available, either in written form or in a webpage accessible to all.  It may not show up on the "standard local rules" for an organization, the "hard card", as it sounds like its a policy of this particular golf course. Assuming that's the case it should show up on the Notice to Players for this particular event.  If you can't find it, ask someone, send an email, try to find out.   In summary, yes the Committee can DQ (or withdraw) a Player for smoking, even before or between rounds.  But its up to you to go from there, communication is the key here.

    • Hmm... I not sure I completely understand. If the course has a no smoking policy, then he shouldn't smoke at the course.  I'm assuming since you are aware of the policy, it must be written down somewhere.  As far as getting disqualified from the tournament, I would think that would be up to the committee. But it feels like it is within their power to disqualify, so why take the chance?
