It was returned just recently. Some guy donated it back after buying it

LOL at Steve Stricker ( I mean "strick" as he is now known since Tiger sucked up to him a few years back on TV and called him that).

In the race of life, always back self-interest. At least you know it's trying.

Just OBed himself out of contention?

Yeah, every time I say somebody might win, they blow up. Mahan might win. Mickelson might win. Donald might win. Rose might win. Day might win. Schwartzel might win. Now let's watch everyone blow up.

Some pretty rough front 9s by the 3rd round leaders so far-

Phil- 2 doubles

Horschel- 4 bogies

Stricker- an 8 and two bogies shooting 41

Charl and Luke Donald- 42 each

Makes the 35s by Rose and Day look all the more impressive as well as Dufner's 67 with a triple.

Just doing the math ... It appears, at a quick glance, that the low round of the tournament is a 67.  There has been one each day - Phil Thursday, Horschel Friday, then Fowler today.  Further, there have only been 17 rounds under par the entire tournament (out of 360 or so total).  If we make the assumption that tomorrow's setup will be conducive to a 67 from somewhere, then it's also a pretty safe bet that at least one of the top 4 guys will, at the very least, be able to squeak out a 70.  I will also go out on a limb and make the assumption that somebody shooting back to back 67's is highly unlikely - It would be extraordinarily epic and I'd love to see it, but it's a longshot - so that leaves Ricky out. So, basically, what that means is that your winner is coming from one of the last 4 groups. (I realize I'm not making any bold predictions here ... just trying to look at it scientifically)

Looks like you're going to be right.

Did Tiger win?!?  It's all about him!

Seriously though, congrats to J Rose.  Apparently, ball striking does win a US Open.

Props to Jason Day for being a true class act sticking around to congratulate Rose. Day always has a good attitude and always seems to be there in contention at the majors. Hope he gets one soon. But congrats to Rose, well deserved. What an incredible 4 days.

    • I've been really happy with my game dispite not playing a tonne this year.    My two biggest weaknesses have had turn arounds. Driving and chipping has got much better. Used to slice my driver terribly every time, but managed to not hit 1 bad slice today. Chipping has just started to turn around, only mishit one from a weird lie where I didn't commit to the shot. Of 8 rounds this year, two in the 80s, three below 95, and only one over 100 (with horrible greens).    Just got to work on trying to at least go to the range once or twice a week for some consistency. Hit I think 4 really bad miss hits, and was a little slow starting with 3 or 4 mini slice/hooks with irons on the first few holes. Still much more good than bad shots, but more practice should get that good swing happening more and more frequently.
    • I definitely have a better outlook on BD after watching his YouTube channel and his appearances on Grant Horvath’s channel. He’s an odd character but he loves the game and is considerably more entertaining than Scheffler and many other PGAT players. I do however continue to see Koepka as a total douche.    I’m pulling for Rory but won’t be disappointed if BD wins. It’s just a damn shame he’s with LIV.
    • Day 44. (15 Jun 24) - took yesterday off (was on the road all day, home after midnight kind of thing). Today was back to it - played local course as a solo.  Played one of my fave formats of rotating thru the tee boxes - adds dimension to the approach game.  Best part of the day was the wedge play with a first ever hole out eagle on the par 5 13th hole.  Drive was tight to the left needing a punchy iron to get back to the center of fairway.  Left about 80yds to the flag, figured an easy GW would leave me close for a birdie putt.  Caught it solid and watched it one hop into the hole….over all a good day of working on the game.
    • As @iacas wrote “This applies to golf, too. Relentlessly chip away at whatever you’re seeking to change. It’ll add up over time in a big way.”  Have to say my work on key points is seeing consistent results -  slowly chipping away at a better approach game, leading to more GIR and nGIR which makes for easier pars and more up and downs.
    • day 93. Chipping and practice getting a little more comfortable with longer irons
