Looks like he's trying to gauge ground/foot pressure? GC cut away before he swung if he did.

No idea but I'll theorize it's something to do with heel/toe weight distribution?

It's probably for balance. I saw someone using this at a driving range during the US Open in 2010 and hit a few balls with it. Didn't get the golfers name, but he just tried not to fall off throughout the whole swing.

Ryan

He has to use them to meet the Minimum Height Requirement of 5' 10" for the US Open.

Yeah Weir loves to use training aids.  Guess he's using those things for balance as he presses into the ground on the downswing.  Looks silly to me.

Looks like a good training aid for GolfingDad to use to keep his elbows close together. Wonder if he's getting any tension from that training aid.

I saw Mike Weir up close at the 2009 President's Cup and I remember him using a couple of training aids. He also had some interesting warm up/stretching routines.

Ha!  No kidding!  There is no way on earth I could let those elbows separate with that thing on my arms.  I like my pipoe, though, just cuz all that happens if I screw up is that it falls to the ground.  Looks like I could injure myself with that thing, lol!

Speaking of Weir, I'm rooting for him, but just curious how he qualified for the Open?  Did he go through regional qualifying, or is he still exempt due to his Masters win?  (Or something else altogether?)

You get 5 years exemption into the majors for winning a major.  So it seems like he went through qualifying, got an alterante spot and got in

These look like mini-Bosu Balls. Some fitness guy came up with a drill in which you stood on a large Bosu Ball (turned with flat side down) and tried to make 10 five-iron swings without falling off. It supposedly helped your balance. I got to where I could swing five times, but it didn't help my score that much.

Focus, connect and follow through!

shud make a vid of him standing on that thing with his arms in those things hitting an impact bag with canes everywhere lol just a training aid whoring video - would be funny - with one of those medicus drivers too haha, wud be a gd commercial for overthinking your swing :)

Everything you said, but take the Medicus driver out and give him a Jack Hamm driver. I know it's not a training aid, but having all those other aids and screaming "POW!!!!" at impact would be perfect. Especially if he's screaming "POW!!!" while losing his balance and falling over :)

They're balancing pads to get a better of understanding of controlling weight distribution during the swing
