Which club do you chip with?

How do you guys handle thick bermuda grass on a chip? The club sticks like velcro on contact.

I mainly use my 60 degree wedge but I will occasionally use my PW.

I find chipping with anything higher than a pw is really difficult to be accurate with.

I chip using LW to 8 iron depending on situation.   In most cases, I have one swing and use different clubs to hit varying distance.  This way, there is no need to practice different swings which I don't have time for.

well from 6iron to lob wedge and sometimes even my hybrid.

it all depends on the situation. i like my ball to land on the green.

and i think i can better control the rol than distance in the air.

so when i get the room i play the chip and run kind off shot.

Well depends on how much green there is between ball and flag.

If you get the room i like to use my hybrid it cuts to the grass nicely

If there is no room. i take my lob wedge and make a steeper swing than normal

to get a clean contact. I open the club face slightly  with this shot. But make sure you keep

the club head open in the whole swing

I play pretty much every shot within 70 yards of the green with my 58* lob wedge, and honestly only chip very short little shots (5 - 15 yards maybe), otherwise I hit more of a pitch shot with the bounce coming into play.

Depends, i prefer to pitch everything, but usually 56 degree for most shots. But i will go down to a 52 or 48 degree for certain shots.

Anywhere around the green and inside of 80 yards, I nearly always use my 54* ... probably 75%-80% of the time. If I'm short-sided and need to hit a flop, I'll grab my 58*. Or if it's an occassional long bump and run, I'll use my 50*.

I have gone out and recorded the fly to roll ratios of every club from 8i or higher (loft).  They stay pretty consistent, whether I am sending it 3 feet in the air or 10 feet, the ratio of that fly to that roll is pretty close to a set number.  For any given chip my goal is to pick a landing target about 3 feet inside the fringe that, when the ball lands there, will cause it to roll to the hole.  I do this by first figuring out the distances.  So, for example, if the its 10 feet from the hole to a spot ~3 feet inside the fringe, and the ball is another 5 feet from the spot (so say 2 feet off the green), I would take out my pitching wedge which is a fly-roll ratio of about 1.9.  Then all I have to do is ignore the hole, and pick the spot on the green I am aiming for 5 feet away and hit the ball there.  This should give me the correct distance so all I have to do is plan for the break and move my target landing area left or right to account for lateral break.  I can also read downhill or uphill break, or a faster or slower green and make adjustments on what club I use.  So say the same situation as before but it has a downhill break, I might move to my GW even though it has a 1.7 ratio since the ball is going to release more when it lands.

So basically I use any club 8i-LW.

lately, I've been using a stab shot for these buried greenside chips - short backswing & going steeper into the ball.     Just going at the ball harder seems to be more reliable that getting the club caught in the thick stuff & duffing it...

I always used to use a 52 for chipping ... but lately, unless there's a reason to use loft (shortsided pin, etc), I've been using my 9 iron & learning to judge the roll out.     I tend to go a bit long - but once I get used to it, I think I'm gonna like it - results are already more consitent .   Granted I can't even come close to pulling off the spinny two hop & stop shot with a lob wedge...
