Down to a 2.7 thanks to some good tournament scores recently. In fact 9 of the 10 scores that count for my handicap have the tournament "T" beside them.

+0.2 to 7.8.  Did not play any poor rounds in the last two weeks, but knocked off a pretty good old one last time.  Still encouraged. :)

12.5 to 11.9. I've been consistently around 11-14 with my differentials the past couple of rounds, but I need a couple of lower rounds to get my handicap into that coveted single digits range.

Moving in the right direction ahead of schedule!  I normally don't start dropping until mid summer, but I went from 4.5 to 3.6 with the June 1st revision!   I hope there is more of that where this came from.  Ultimately......I want to get back to the 1's before the year is out.

No change, but it will go up if I don't improve off the tee.  I have been getting the hooks lately and I am bewildered as to what is causing it.

Never thought I would be able to say I have a single digit handicap because I always thought single digits was great golf and I know I don't play great golf. It is amazing how our perceptions of what good golf is changes as we get better.

Finally, it's heading in the right direction.  Got it down to below 21 at 20.9.   I have been playing better of late without lower neck/upper back pain.  I hope to continue playing better.

Thanks. It only took a couple of years of reading this site to help nudge me. That and I might get a chance to start playing some tournaments.

I dropped a full stroke in May and have come down almost 2 strokes since the start of 2014. My goal now is to get into the 9s by the end of the year.

On a side note, I played 14 rounds in May. Not positive, but I think that's a one-month record for me.

      I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.

      Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
