I could puke with coverage right now from the golf channel....just awful and total lack of substance and interest. Kelly Tillman  please go away, take Notah with you, Hard to believe this is the best they can do, Rosy at least has some factual intellect and interest, unfortunately he has been on for all of 2 minutes in between commercials and kellys love fest.  She back on, excuse my while I visit the toilet again.

Crowds seem to be cheerful yet not obnoxious.  Then again it's the AM.  We'll see how they are after lunch and a few drinks.

lol, it was all downhill from there for Tiger.

Edit: actually I'm thinking of the shot on #2.  After that miss it was all downhill.

it's quiet here - what happened to Tiger on the last hole - penalties? or just a couple bad shots? there's a guy from Japan at -4 after 5 holes........... Rory just started too - strong birdie. I can't follow it from work here....ack

Hard to follow what is going on while at work. The live stream barely plays right now.. Tiger had trouble getting out of the bunker on the final hole. Watching iron shots for tee shots is boring. It is not what a major should be.

In my bag:

Nike Mach Speed Black

Nike Dymo 3 wood

TaylorMade Burner 3 hybrid

Mizuno MP-53 PW-3

TaylorMade RAC 52, 56, 60

Since he brought out his driver on #4 and pushed it to the right rough, his swing started coming loose.

HA!!! With all the talk of "Tiger vs Adam vs Phil vs etc etc etc" I don't think anyone had a "Rory vs Idoki" lineup staged. BUT....it's early yet.

I think watching continuous videos of him blistering the field one year ago has helped a bit.

Got away with a "three putt" double bogey.  One putt included a 40 yarder putt thru two cuts. lol

watching live http://thesandtrap.com/chat Jeremie Boop won't talk to me

I mentioned this earlier in chat.  I have not followed majors or the tour closely enough to take notice in the past, but recently it seems like if someone pulls out a driver on a narrow fairway with a high second cut, it's an anomaly.  I could be wrong but I seem to remember a lot more drivers in the majors in early 2000's.  Am I mistaken?  What gives?

Players are just longer now than 13 years ago, but courses have stayed the same, some slightly longer. Personally I like the extra penal rough. If they want to hit a wedge into a green they better be confident with the driver. They can't just hit driver to within 150 and know they'll be fine if theyfind the rough.

    • Rule 1.2b refers you to a section in the Committee Procedures (Section 5I) that helps explain what a Code of Conduct may (and may not) do.  Defining acceptable behavior (including smoking) and applying Stroke of DQ penalties are certainly within the Committee's authority. That Code of Conduct certainly should be available, either in written form or in a webpage accessible to all.  It may not show up on the "standard local rules" for an organization, the "hard card", as it sounds like its a policy of this particular golf course. Assuming that's the case it should show up on the Notice to Players for this particular event.  If you can't find it, ask someone, send an email, try to find out.   In summary, yes the Committee can DQ (or withdraw) a Player for smoking, even before or between rounds.  But its up to you to go from there, communication is the key here.

    • Hmm... I not sure I completely understand. If the course has a no smoking policy, then he shouldn't smoke at the course.  I'm assuming since you are aware of the policy, it must be written down somewhere.  As far as getting disqualified from the tournament, I would think that would be up to the committee. But it feels like it is within their power to disqualify, so why take the chance?
