It's rare I don't drink beer on the course so more of the same after. Not sure if it's superstition or what but I tend to play bad without the beer. Though lately I've been mixing some Tres Leches drinks in there, tastes like a vanilla shake. Need to cool it, pants are a little snug after all the booze this summer.

Spanish Russian:

  • 1 1/2 oz. Tres Leches Triple Cream Liqueur
  • 1 oz. Vodka
  • 1 oz. Coffee Liqueur
  • Servced over ice

I'd have to say a cold beer.  If they have something 'a notch above' so to speak, I'll get that.  With no offense meant to Miller Light / Bud Light, I'd have a problem calling them my favorite.  But if it is all they have - which seems to be the case pretty often - I'm in.  And occasionally a scotch or bourbon is nice as well.

I've had problems with the gout lately and have had to quit drinking altogether.  But I look forward to drinking at the course again once things level out.  I do enjoy it.  Gotta be one of the best times to get a drink and tell lies about the round you just played.

On hot days - a double Glenlivet on the rocks.

On cooler days - a double Glenlivet neat.

Ahhh, yes, Arnold Palmers.  I love those while I am playing golf.  Usually have one or two.  Still like the Glenlivet after the round.

The last time I visited the 19th hole after a round was in the 1990s!!!  I used to play in a regular pot-game back then.  We'd have 20-35 players competing during prime season and we'd all gather in the grill afterwards for payouts.  The wait for all the groups to finish was always painful.  I usually drank water or a Gatorade. Since those days?................NEVER.  LOL

IMO...if I have the time to burn afterwards, it would be better spent playing an extra 9 holes!

No joke......ever since I relocated and changed to a new golf club, all of my regular groups make a beeline to our cars after walking off the 18th and that is the way I like it.  If there is money to be handed over....we do it from our carts after we drive clear of the 18th green. lol

    • I've had this one since 2021.  Amazon.com No complaints.  I had to reglue the little Velcro tabs onto the yellow foam guide thingies. But that's not a big deal. The Velcro came off almost immediately and I put them back on using super-glue and they've been fine ever since. I've hit a lot of balls off this in my garage and I have no complaints.
    • I've been thinking about buying a hitting mat for home indoors use. I currently only got a small patch of some mat I bought years ago and stand on a wooden platform. It'd be nice having a mat to stand on and hit from. After some searching, I see Fiberbuilt often being praised. Not sure if I can get hold of it easily here, and buying internationally can get expensive for a mat that's already quite pricey (~$800). The Wittek Quattro is also usually favorably mentioned, and at half the price (~$400) of the Fiberbuilt. Anyone have experince with this mat? Any other suggestions?
    • It just occurred to me that the last time I was serious about golf, my woods were made of….wood! Also interestingly (to me anyway) as I shopped for “woods”, mostly on eBay, I found that all the clubs in really nice cosmetic/aesthetic shape (good finish, nice club face, good grip) were woman’s clubs. Seems they either take really good care of them or don’t use them much.    And lastly, for now anyway, I went to a range today that has Top Tracer monitors at all the stations - another “new” development that may have been around for quite a while, but this was a first for me. I found it useful although I’m sure I only scratched the surface of its capabilities.
    • Agreed. For me, the feel was introduced to get the arms moving down from the top. It wasn't necessarily a "get it in front of the hip" explanation as the correct position but more for an exaggerated feel to get rid of the earlier issue.
