The snow melted quickly and I am playing Fox Hollow this afternoon!

First chance I have had to play out there, I hear it's awesome.

Enjoy!

First club tournament got snowed out two weeks ago. Second club tournament is this Saturday but it's suppose to rain today (already started) and through the weekend. Ugh. And it's suppose to downpour starting Friday. Double ugh!

I saw the radar this morning. The snow line was just at the NH border.

It has been temperature warmish here but chilly winds. There is still snow on the ground. I would think it would be warm enough to melt but I guess not in the trees. Aggravating. On a positive note, we need the precipitation for the golf course and to lower forest fire warnings.

Looks like cold rain and possibly snow here on Friday! Just in time for my tournament on Saturday. Lovely.

Yup. Earlier forecast for rain has turned into a forecast for snow: 7-10 inches and 10-20 where I am. Just lovely. There goes my Saturday tournament. First two tournaments of the season have been snowed out.

Hope this is not a sign for things to come.

As of now, our tournament is still set to go. There's a decent chance a lot of the snow will melt right away (or that we don't get any snow), and Saturday is supposed to be drier. It might be wet and cold, but there's a chance it will be playable.

Of course, a lot of people won't be too happy if we go forward with the tournament. I think it could be a lot of fun. I'll just pack an extra pair of socks; the cold temperatures won't bother me too much.

It's snowing lightly already.  So I am not too optimistic.  But I would love to play on Saturday.  It's been too long!!!

I just got the tee time sheet from my club.  They will make the final go/no-go decision on Friday at 5 PM.

Just keeping my fingers crossed.

Strange weather so far. No snow sticking the ground in most places. Media still claims we're getting somewhere between 2 and 6 inches of snow, but it's supposed to wind down tonight, and I doubt it gets much colder until the Sun goes down this evening.

@Yukari - I'm curious what your tournament decides to do. Our last tournament got cancelled, so I have a feeling that if the course is open, our tournament is going forward. It's going to be cold, wet, and miserable, but it could be a lot of fun!

@DeadMan I will let you know about my tournament as soon as I hear from them.  They are suppose to make the final decision at 5:00 PM today.

It has been a very strange weather.  Where I live there is about 3-5 inches of snow already, but here in town nothing is sticking around so far.  I am hoping that will be the case, but we shall see.

I would love to play tomorrow even if it is cold and raining.

Ha, I told my wife this morning that I sort of wanted to go out and find an open course to play on even if our tournament is canceled. I think that makes me certifiably insane, and she agreed.

Update - tournament canceled. Still debating whether I should go out and play on my own if there's a open course tomorrow morning.

No official news yet for my tournament.

But if it is cancelled, I will be looking for an open course to play, at least in the early afternoon.

    • What's the rest of that story? Where was the ball going?
    • The criticisms are starting already 🤣 U.S. Open pro criticizes Shinnecock green conditions: 'Bumpy' After playing his first practice round at the 2026 U.S. Open, Michael Kim offered a less-than-glowing review of Shinnecock's "bumpy" greens.   The sand, I don't care about that. If the greens didn't come back as well for latest aerification, that would be a bit of a blunder on Shinnecock I think.

    • Update: Brandon Sorsby has decided to enter the NFL Supplemental Draft. He will not play for Texas Tech in the upcoming season.  From my perspective, I think he did the right thing. I hope he gets the correct help for his gambling addiction. I say the right thing, because I would be worried that the stress from all of this now and throughout the entire year would not be beneficial towards his mental health.  If an NFL team picks him up, then there really isn't any pressure for him to play immediately. He can work on himself and his game for the NFL.  From Texas Tech,  "Texas Tech will continue to provide the support and recovery resources Brendan requires on this journey. Furthermore, Texas Tech will not seek return of any amounts already paid to Brendan through his NIL agreements with the University," Campbell wrote. "We wish our best to Brendan, and we offer our prayers to him and his family as he chases his dreams at the next level. This has been an unbelievably painful experience for us all, but I know that his true, underlying character and lessons learned through this experience will ultimately bring him great success on the field of play and in life." Which, I also the right thing to do.
