Why not, it was 2 minutes left Oregon can score in 7 seconds and they where up two scores at the time? Sorry, but in the NC game, Leave No Doubt! Also it is a way to give Elliot the ball and let him get some more glory because he carried this team on his back tonight.  I have no trouble with that last score with the way Oregon was able to score quickly on OSU, and move the ball.  [rule] The key stat of the game. Third Down Coversions and Red Zone Defense. Two areas were Ohio State just out matched Oregon. Ohio State was 2nd to last going into this game in allowing TD's in the Red Zone. I think they held Oregon to 1 out of 5 in the Red Zone.  Basically Ohio State performed the bend but don't break defense better than Oregon did. Once Ohio State realized they can just manhandle Oregon's front seven on when on offense it was pretty much a done deal. I've watched OSU do the same thing over the past three years. If you let them, they will rush the ball 60 times a game and just demoralize the other team and wear them down.  That is what OSU did, 61 rushing attempts for 296 yards. Oregon's players were just gassed at the end of that game. Great game by Ohio State, just an crazy season losing 2 starting QB's, the best pass rusher from last year, 4 starting offensive lineman, and a dominant running back to just stick together and put on a stretch of games like this was a season for the ages for Ohio State. Proud to be a Buckeye!

There was less than a minute left and Oregon wasn't calling timeouts. They had conceded. But whatever, I get your point. Congrats, you guys earned it.
If you do not want to a team to score, stop them. Alabama, Oregon and the Big10 ran into a buzzsaw
Yeah, I tried to call Urban and tell him to stop but for some reason he wasn't answering my call.

As much as I love my Buckeyes it was hard to see that Mariotta kid crumble. That was his last collegiate game. He's a good kid and sets a good example. I wish him the best in the NFL

What a crazy year.

I watched all the OSU games other than Kent State and didn't think for a second that the Buckeyes would do what they did in those final three games. Even in the final moments on Monday night, it seemed like the sort of dream that was bound to end right before the final whistle. Then it didn't.

In retrospect, maybe the Big Ten had been beaten down to the point where I didn't give Ohio State any credit for beating Michigan State, Minnesota, Indiana, Penn State or TTUN. The loop certainly had some other good results in the bowl games. Hopefully this adjusts the way people, including myself, view the league.

Looking forward to next year already.

After the MSU Game I thought Ohio State could give anyone a game. I wasn't thinking NC caliber yet. I think they would hold their own in what ever bowl game they got.

I was really waiting for that one game for the defense to click. They were play really good for the youth they had, but had mental breakdowns in the run game. Then they just went out and punked Wisconsin. That is when I thought they were one of the top 6 teams in the nation. Sometimes a defense or offense just needs that one game to have it click. I thought if that was their moment then with the offense Ohio State had they would have a good shot.

Really the game that I was worried about was more Alabama then Oregon. Just because I think Alabama might have had the defense to actually slow down Ohio State's Offense. If Alabama actually committed to running the ball they would control the clock and the game. Of course Lane Kiffin decided not to call those run plays to the outside when they were out flanking Ohio State routinely, and gashing the defense.

I watched some of Oregon, and I thought if we didn't turn the ball over (I guess that didn't matter) and our O-line and D-line showed up we could have a couple more scores than Oregon.

Those turnovers were a part of my disbelief on Monday. You aren't supposed to win turning the ball over four times.

I think I could call that being clutch. Being able to hold Oregon to only 10 points off of turnovers is huge.

Well, the Buckeyes knocked out each team put in front of them #1 Alabama, #2 Oregon, Wisconsin..... To win the national championship! So I guess all that's left is sad homers to try and critique how they crushed each team to win it so..."They ran up the score", "they had some turnovers.." Lol! Crazy thing is... Get used to it because we will dominate next year too...

I wish the game was on earlier.  Sadly, I made it to the beginning of the second quarter (pathetic, I know but I get to work at 6AM).  I have a few OSU friends and am happy for them.  It's good to see a non-SEC team win for a change too!

    • The putting green itself is fine. It's the same green we have here. They just need to learn how to chip "into" the grain instead of just down-grain all the time. You have to hit it solid. The launch monitors and the simulator software are garbage right now. Nobody wants to say anything bad about the LMs because Tiger is a partial owner or something. The software has 3Ws stopping in ten feet on the green, and balls bouncing all of 11 yards after flying 311 in the fairways.
    • Explain this:   Send 3 and 4 pence we're going to a dance.
    • Although fun to watch on a winter night, I don't think the simulation is anywhere near accurate. Watched Kevin Kisner hit a shot onto a green slope that would not roll back. When they got to that spot, they couldn't place a ball there without it rolling down the hill. Had to move to another location. The greens remind me of the pooltable-like surface of a Mini Golf course. Balls just take off and roll away. Chipping from off the green seems tricky on the surface they use. And what's with Tiger spitting during the round? It's an indoor carpet. Don't know why atheletes need to spit outdoors, let alone on an indoor carpet surface.
    • Maybe this is what you were getting at?  Doing some math. Comparing JumboMax versus Tour Velvet, standard size in both.  I got the force required using the JumboMax grip, to achieve the same rotational acceleration as the Tour Velvet, is about 1.37 more for the JumboMax grip. Interestingly, the Jumbomax grip is about 17% larger than the Tour Velvet, and 17% lighter for the standard size. I just substituted out the radius and mass of the JumboMax as a ratio of the Tour Velvet's mass and radius. This allows me to cancel out the mass and radius and get a ratio for the force. If you need 100 (force units of your choice) to achieve a certain rotational acceleration, you will need 137 (force units of your choice).  There was another thread on the forum about offset, where it basically just delays closure by some stupidly small amount. A lot of fun math there.  Most golfers have to go from about 90 degrees open clubface at A4 to square at A7. So, having a grip that requires more force to close that clubface might not be the best idea pending the golf swing.  A question is, since the clubface is open at A4, and square at A7. Does that mean you want most of the closure to happen from A4 to let say A6, and not A6 to A7, for better consistently (less timing at impact). Just a thought.
    • This reminds me of the old game Telephone, where someone tells a story to someone, that person tells it to the next person, and after a few re-tellings you see how badly mangled the story gets.  Most golfers learn the rules in a similar fashion, learning from someone who really doesn't know the rules themselves.  This isn't really helped by the fact that many golf professionals aren't all that knowledgeable about the rules.  In addition, most golfers have been told that the Rules are SO complicated and SO difficult to read that they never try to read for themselves. Now, having vented a bit, is there anything in particular you'd like to read?
