Yes I saw that video today. This grip, I have been working on up to date and found I can hit the ball better.  I’ll try some more then. Thank you.

They're all super palmy. They're ll pretty bad. But yeah, the first grip is really bad, the third is barely better, and the "too small" grip is the best because it's at least closest to being in the fingers.

I waffled on using the word "downcock" in the video (the text), but since I'm clearly demonstrating it, I felt it was okay. Plus, it's at setup, not late transition.

I’m pretty sure that my taking my grip with club on the ground at address is how I developed my palmy grip. Since my grip work started months ago, I now take my grip in the air (vs with the club on the ground) and I’ve found that to be helpful.

You don't have to.

That said, I think people can take the grip in the air, and if they put it down without "un-hinging" they let it slide up into the palm.

The last several years I've played with the club in my palm of the left hand. My question is how much am I hurting my swing doing this? My golf game is inconsistent at best (usually play 9 holes and a 43 is as likely as a 50) so I'm wondering if this is something I should be looking at to change. Thank you in advance for your help.

Quite a bit.

I merged your topic into our long-running "grip" topic.

Thank you @iacas

So I hit in a dome here today in 40 degree MN. Grip change felt weird of course but wow. Just seemed to feel like I had so much more control of the club and way more powerful. Bring on summer.

It’s interesting, with almost every new student, the first thing I address is grip. Somehow, many get it in their palms just a little too much. Makes a world of difference in how one controls the face.

I have changed my golf swing 3264 times since I started playing.  I have never changed my grip.

Took a guess on age, but rough every 6 days since you were born, you’ve changed your swing? I feel like it would be more often than that… 😂

Yeah I thought about that. I worked on taking the grip you showed in the video as the start of my pre-shot routine so hopefully that will help make it stick.

Hit some balls yesterday for the first time in a while. Love this new grip as it just felt as if I was striking the ball better with much more power. I was in a dome so it's hard to say where the ball would have ended up but with 7i and 4hy most ball flights were much straighter.

    • 26 Nov 24 -  It was not a record breaking round by any means, but rather a simple walking of the back nine today playing TBWB (two ball-worse ball) where the challenge is to play the worse of the two shots played - could be an errant drive from the woods, a tree knocked ball that is 100 yds farther back down the fairway, a nGIR ball as opposed to a GIR….the goal today was to stay no worse than bogie thru nine.  Managed to achieve that goal - bogied 7 holes with one dbl and one par to counter the dbl.  It’s about staying focused and not letting a bad shot or lie derail, but rather be an opportunity.
    • Day 208 (26 Nov 24)- Opted to walk 9 today (was the back nine as they had a huge group going off the front) but instead of it being persimmons and blades, I had the regular gamers but made it a TBWB (two ball-worst ball) round.  This really challenges on several fronts - ball striking to be as consistent as possible, course management from non-optimal lies and keeping your head in it as it can be depressing to nail a shot on line-on target and the second rattles the trees right and it’s over 50 yards back and that’s the one you have to play.  The goal was to be no worse than bogie overall (+9).  Finished the round exactly on the number with some solid recoveries, no penalty strokes and only one 3-putt.
