It's kind of a cross between an overlapping and an interlocking grip.

But it's neither double nor reverse.

I wasn't really paying attention earlier today, but just grabbed a putter and copied Arnie's grip ... and I kind of disagree with what you're saying here.  It's really not at all like an interlocking grip. And I actually can understand why somebody (who doesn't realize that the term "reverse double overlap" already applies to something else would try and use that term, or something like it.

It's not "double" because the two overlaps aren't on the same hand.  And it's not reverse because that implies that its not also a regular overlap.  It's one overlap combined with one reverse overlap.  So ...

Crossover overlap grip? Cross-overlap grip?

Yeah, I think it would have to be along these lines.

Is this grip - whatever we choose to call it - what Arnold Palmer putted with?  I know Furyks grip is his regular swing grip.

FWIW, I said it was "kind of a cross" (not exactly concrete language there) because with a left finger on top of one, and a right finger on top of another, if you keep moving the hands toward another they're going to interlock.

I forgot all about this thread when I went out. I was going to try putting today with a double interlock grip because the double reverse overlap hasn't been doing anything for me.

I forgot all about this thread when I went out. I was going to try putting today with a double interlock grip because the double reverse overlap hasn't been doing anything for me.

I was with Mike and Tristan when they took those pictures so I was thinking about my grip some more.  I realize mine is "kind of" a (single) reverse overlap, but not quite.  My left index finger does not hide my right pinky at all.  You can see all of the fingers on my right hand when I grip the club.  Not sure if that is "standard" reverse overlap or if that is weird.  Either way, its comfortable.  Maybe try that one too.

I also happen to be one of those who puts his right index finger straight down the shaft.  I know that is kind of a no-no in general, but it doesn't hurt me yet so I still do it.

I don't remember when I went to this grip, but I do remember that prior to it happening, I had no idea that there was a such thing as different grips for putting.  I always used my regular interlocking full swing grip.  But after a VERY short time with the reverse overlap, it became so comfortable that I just knew. ;)

I'm a reverse overlap guy and I would move to double overlap but I have a ring that causes some issues when I go double.

Trans-Cross Over Interlocking Double Lap?

Why don't we just call it an "Arnold Palmer grip"?  He's got a drink named after him after all.

Sorry to resurrect, but I think this is what you mean? Arnold Palmer...found this on Google via Golf Digest. Sorry if not ok to post...

I just started using a similar grip to this.  Using three fingers on each hand to hold the putter.  Seems to make me take a much smoother putting stroke, and not accelerate through the ball≥

If I can get a picture I will post it.  I have been putting so poorly, this grip definitely feels odd, but in just two days my putting has been much better.  And today, it was starting to not feel strange.
