You set up with the ball off the toe, and hit it off the toe.

Not gonna lie, I am obsessed with these little nippers. They are pure fun when you get them right. Anyway, bit more off the toe.

You know, I have to agree with you. I've made it much harder in my head then it should be. Thanks for the nudge.

I promise this will be my last post on chips for a while. I promise y'all. I mean, until tomorrow..😂

Even my daughter noticed couple of days that my chipping looked like I was having some kinda spazzy neurological misfires and said I need to buy one of them 'chipping putter thingy' or something and she's not much of a golfer. Ouch. Can't have that. Nope. 🤣

Even for a teenager, that is brutal. Ouch.

I’m not going to comment on your technique since I can’t hit a chip if I stuck my wedge into a freshly opened bag of Lay’s but you’re hitting these shots rather quickly for a practice session, aren’t you?

Fair question. Two things:

1) I noticed I had gotten loosey goosey, so I am practicing firmer wrists (specifically right wrist) through impact. It is a simple motion with minimal angulation/de-angulation of shaft/wrists etc.

2) Hyperfocus on smaller motions like chips and putts are counterproductive. I believe, tension/yips are result of overthinking mechanics when standing over the ball. I am not rushing for sure as you have to fully settle down, but unlike full swing motions, I think it important to not give chipping mechanics any more time and respect than it deserves. I literally am practicing that.

And can't hit a chip through a bag of Lays??? That is flipping hilarious.. 🤣

This on-plane aid is set at a safe distance but is a great visual aid for loopy arm and club head path I am prone to. Elbow still too low at A4 but will continue working with the swing extender to map it better.

(edited)

So no joke, last evening post work nine must have been the craziest side I've ever played: Bogey, double, double, par, birdie, birdie, birdie, double, birdie. Two gimme birdies, one 15 footer and one bonus bomb from prolly 35 feet on no. 9. Full disclosure, it's a super easy course when greens are running at an 8 with easy welcoming pins. Still, a couple of firsts there. Driver freed me up starting the fourth hole.

Anyway, driver notes:

1) anti left left hand grip.

2) no structural bind on hands/grip.

3) left shoulder HAS to get up to chin with humerus completely detached from chest and shoulder socket (feel)

Big game tomorrow, aiming to break 80.

37-40 = 77 (Par 70). Ran out of gas (carried bag - bit winded) on the back 9 and lost three drives slightly right. Of course the worst one had to come on 18 costing a double and an expensive back nine team loss by a shot. Ouch.

Some minor swing mistakes but nothing horrible. Won the front side team bet for about a tank of gas worth of money so all in all a good day.

Finally, wedges getting somewhere. This one a punch gap from 87 yards to about 12 feet. Contact and ball flight absolute restaurant quality. It's nice when grass comes back.

Feral right elbow: "***k you ***ch". 😂

Didn't win that arm throwing contest either.

Maybe I gotta get me one of them handcuff thingies to the elbows together.😠

Played a good round today in which other than butchering a recovery shot on 14th for a double bogey six it was a fairly non-eventful round with five bogeys and a birdie until an eagle on 18th courtesy of a season best 207 yard 4 iron to eight feet that I then drained. Love it when par 5s are downwind.

Came home and recorded an unrehearsed video. Wasn't worth posting. Still looks the same - armsy/handsy. Will keep working.

Slight adjustment. Turning a bit more over the ball. Not gonna lie, while still trail elbow getting too far behind me, I'm a happy camper at the moment. That's about as good as I can hit a golf ball.

Not sure if this is good or bad but I get the feeling I'm close to my ceiling if not there already as far as wedge swing is concerned.

    • I just recently bought two pairs of True, originals 1.2 and a lightweight pair which will have to wait until after Winter.  Very comfortable, but they leaked at the hells, unusual design almost like they have a slipper inside at the back with a waterproof membrane.  The leaked  outside of the membrane, but it eventually crept up into the shoe. I’ve had them replaced, but I haven’t really had a chance to test them yet

    • I currently am building a driver from ground up and need a question answered if anyone can. I have a Taylormade Rocketballz (RBZ) Tour driver head which required a shaft with a .350 tip diameter. I was able to get a shaft with a .335 tip diameter and i don't know much about these adapters for drivers so here is my question: If I buy a .335 adapter that is compatible with a RBZ driver head will that work or do i have to get a driver shaft with a .350 tip diameter?    Sorry if the question is worded in a confusing way but im just trying to figure out if i was use the .335 shaft or if i need to go ahead and buy one that is .350.
    • Day 9: went to the range at lunch. Worked on short game and putting. I actually got the low spinner to work well for the first time, so that's awesome. Putting was solid, too.
