Pick-Clean and Lift..😊

Winter tight lies have affected my chipping confidence a bit. Have hit some spazzy flubs last couple of weeks.

Reminding myself to keep fluidity of chest and knees. Hyper focus on the ball is detrimental. Easier said than done when there is very little or dead grass to work with but it's a fun challenge to work on and gives me a break from full swing work.

Strictly right elbow position check after about a month of extender work. I think I am at least getting it off my side without thinking.

Sorry for the double post but wanted to write down a couple of notes I will probably forget:

1. Keep the entire right arm and side below the shaft plane and soft structured in the backswing to not put elbow in a leveraged position at the top.

2. Do not over-leverage right elbow and wrist extensions into impact. Roll through impact a little. Unconscious levers are the hardest to abandon.

The video is much better. Could still be shorter - coast earlier so you can stop earlier - but the orientation of the elbows, etc. is much better. Better tilts too.

Put a piano behind the car through the gap and @GolfLug's got it no problem!

I thought I understood what you meant by 'coast earlier'. You meant no lifting from P1 to P2, right?

No. I mean swing fast early, then coast to the top earlier. You still have a lot of speed going back late in your backswing, so everything collapses.

Hmm.. clean pick but DS still tentative. Few reminders:

1) There are no upward forces in short game

2) No shoving, only turning

3) There's a tiny 'pop' in chips and chitches.

Somewhere along the line I got the idea that I need to get my torso, forearms and hand over the club shaft to keep the leading edge down through impact. Overdoing it a bit.

You just want the heel up a little bit to reduce turf interaction.

Oh yea! I think I learned that a few times before.

Pitching mechanics have completely soiled the sheets.

In addition to having developed this cramped, nut-bruising move to manage these winter barren hard pan lies, I have zero coherent swing thoughts at the moment.

Not sure if it's too early to panic for the season, but I am.

Why isn't golf like skiing? Couple of runs down the slopes to kick off the season and it's like you never left.

On the other hand Golf is so freaking regressive. I am exhausted from trying not to lose my work done while still in the season. If it weren't so tragic it would be funny.

Anyway, mini-rant over. Back to chopping wood and carrying water.

I'm nothing if not persistent.

Love the buddhist monk reference!

    • Day 159 1-19 Flow drill while attempting to add arch in wrist on downswing. Not where it needs to be but felt good working on swing flow.
    • Day 1 (19 Jan 26) - after a week lay-off due to travels, felt great to get in some drills in the backyard today.  Started with lead arm only short pitches focused on squared face and light divot post ball.  Haven’t done this in a while and it showed, with some skulls and slices.  Settled into easy flighted balls - wrapped up with standard two handed swings.  Good restart to the daily drills.

    • Day 19, 1/19.  Finished work in time to spend 25 minutes hitting balls (hit 15) indoors, off a mat, into the net.  Usual focus.
    • Day 30 - 2026-01-19 Got 10 minutes in on the mat / net working on exagerrating movements I'm working on. And grip. Also worked with my friendly AI to summarize key negative tendencies I have so that I can build a personal checklist to follow. Will do more mirror work tonight.
