Quick thinking Lee!

by Marika Washchyshyn

Lee Westwood was in the right place at the right time while vacationing in Barbados last week, where he charged into the ocean to save a man from drowning, the Birmingham Mail reports.

Westwood and his family were seated on the beach beside Colin Davies' family when Davies decided to go for a swim. Davies, a British millionaire who suffers from Parkinson's Disease, was out of his wife's earshot when his legs locked up and he started to flounder.

The 41-year-old Westwood jumped into the water and rescued Davies before he went under.

Awesome story indeed. Lucky for him that Lee was paying attention, it's so easy for some of these currents to pull you in quick without anyone noticing. I'm happy it ended well!

The earlier comments about "he knew the risks" is a satire line from Airplane! Intended to be tongue in cheek. Too bad Westwood wasn't there to help Allenby in Hawaii....

No idea, and I saw that movie, and don't call me Shirley. I just didn't understand any part of that post from word 1 to the censored emoji.

Me either. I'll take his word for it but I don't remember that line. All I know is that I picked the wrong week to stop sniffing glue!

The airplane reference was the only thing I understood. Maybe I'm wrong and it wasn't a reference....scary. Oh, and Leon's getting larger!

    • It's going to be very difficult for the 2026 Masters to match the 2025 edition for storyline. I honestly don't know that anyone else in the field could match the story of Rory finally winning after so many years and the blow ups over the years, not to mention the career slam being completed. No one this year that I can think of is remotely close to that kind of story. Combine that with the attempts at blow ups last year (Double on the 1st, 13, 18 on first try) and the stunningly good shots that he hit in the final round (7, 15, 17, 18 on second try).  Full gamut: https://www.masters.com/en_US/watch/2025-04-13/17445961638226475/every_single_shot_from_rory_mcilroys_final_round.html
    • Let's kick off the 2026 Masters talk with… a look back at 2025 (coming soon):
    • Wow, so Europe named Luke for a third term. Luke Donald named 2027 European Ryder Cup Captain Luke Donald named 2027 European Ryder Cup Captain Who will the U.S. name? I hope not Tiger Woods.
    • I am playing Arrowhead for the first time and I am pumped.  What are some things that I need to make sure and appreciate, for those that have played it before and love it? It has been a pretty dry winter so I am expecting rough to be forgiving which is nice and it will be playing much easier than it does in the late summer (I am assuming based on other colorado courses).  What should I make sure to not miss?
