Hi, I'm swinging plenty fast, just not in the impact zone. i swing my sand wedge 110-120 mph max, but only 80-86 in impact zone. Hand speed is 13-17 at impact and 21-23 mph max, but once again, not in the impact zone. i've thought maybe im releasing early or late, tinkered round with that; no luck. hip turn, spinning out, should i "pause" or "brake" in the downswing? thoughts? thanks, dan

Clubhead speed is 120 MPH with your sand wedge?

yes. not every time. average is 102-105 but just past impact zone.

I doubt it.

I'm not sure what numbers you're getting, but… they don't seem to be clubhead speed. The clubhead is also not going faster AFTER impact than before. The ball slows the clubhead down dramatically.

these swings are without balls. measured on my zepp. at the impact zone im 80-86. just after there is a slight decrease in speed followed by a big increase. this is where my max speed is being recorded. (102-105 avg, max: 121)

Did you put your arm length as 50 inches or something like that?

I don't think the numbers are accurate. Get on a FlightScope or something. Record your swing with some good high-speed video, and post them in the Member Swings section.

Plus, I'm not particularly interested in practice swings.

That doesn't make sense, speed doesn't increase after impact.

Have you recorded your swing hitting a ball? That will probably give you more of an accurate reading.

ive hit plenty of balls on gc2 hmt and the speed is also 80-86 at impact. but it wont tell me the max.

It's probably 80-86. I don't trust the 100+ at any level.

Agree with Erik, it's probably 80-86. How far do you hit your 7 iron, driver?

7 iron: 150 on average. but lately ive been hitting 175/185. not consistently though. i play mp 14 irons (traditional weaker lofts) with rifle 6.0 shafts, low kickpoint. ball flight is high. i hit a few mp 4 6 irons at roger dunn and was getting 185/195 with dg x100 shafts. driver: 275/285 avg with occasional 320-330-340. r11s stiff shaft. 9 deg loft i hit 362 once with a little tailwind ive been practicing a lot lately and im getting in tune with a lot of things

Your numbers are way out there and they're hard to believe. Did you go to the link @iacas posted? Pros average driver carry is 275 and 7 iron 172. Somehow I doubt your technique is better than a pro's driver (hardest club to hit in the bag) but your irons are that much worse.

those are my numbers. im sorry you find them hard to believe. is anyone actually going to answer the question? or are we going to argue about believability?

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
