I'm reminded of a baseball analogy. Back in the day, when Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Steve Garvey was Mr. Perfect-in-Every-Way - of course we found out later that he was not, but that's another story - he had an off-year on the playing and personal fronts, and Bill James wrote a little piece on him that ended, "Welcome, Steve; welcome to the human race." That's sums up what I feel about Tiger, and maybe what many others feel, too. Guy used to be annoyingly Olympian, then he came to earth but hard. For a while there was some Schadenfreude-type pleasure to be had from his getting his comeuppance, but that has faded for all but hardcore Tiger-haters. Who can't relate to him now? Welcome, Tiger; welcome to the human race.

ACE!

Chad Campbell with hole in one at the downhill par 3. I am officially rooting for him now. Been a while.

My hats off to Billy Horchel. Whether he believes Tiger's game is close or not, he stuck up for his friend. He probably said Tiger is doing good things to make him feel better. Nothing wrong with that. A class act.

I agree. He just went way up my list of favorite players.

He also smokes like a chimney on the golf course, which puts TV directors in a conundrum every time they cut to him.

How in the hell did Lucas's ball bounce out of the water? And JB shoulda gone for it.

Everyone loves a Jason Day win. And Lucas Glover might be the worst putter I've ever seen. So much for 2-footers having no separation value.

Two things: It's poa annua late in the day, which means nothing's guaranteed, and brooks koepka 5-putted 18 the other day so....

That is Bold, I would predict that he goes to the top 5 by years end, if he's healthy. The kid's got game for sure.

He's #4 in OWGR with today's win.

    • Day 11: did mirror work for a while. Worked on the same stuff.
    • I'm not sure you're calculating the number of strokes you would need to give correctly. The way I figure it, a 6.9 index golfer playing from tees that are rated 70.8/126 would have a course handicap of 6. A 20-index golfer playing from tees that are rated 64/106 would have a course handicap of 11. Therefore, based on the example above, assuming this is the same golf course and these index & slope numbers are based on the different tees, you should only have to give 5 strokes (or one stroke on the five most difficult holes if match play) not 6. Regardless, I get your point...the average golfer has no understanding of how the system works and trying to explain it to people, who haven't bothered to read the documentation provided by either the USGA or the R&A, is hopeless. In any case, I think the WHS as it currently is, does the best job possible of leveling the playing field and I think most golfers (obviously, based on the back & forth on this thread, not all golfers) at least comprehend that.
    • Day 115 12-5 Skills work tonight. Mostly just trying to be more aware of the shaft and where it's at. Hit foam golf balls.
    • Day 25 (5 Dec 25) - total rain day, worked on tempo and distance control.
    • Yes it's true in a large sample like a tournament a bunch of 20 handicaps shouldn't get 13 strokes more than you. One of them will have a day and win. But two on one, the 7 handicap is going to cover those 13 strokes the vast majority of the time. 20 handicaps are shit players. With super high variance and a very asymmetrical distribution of scores. Yes they shoot 85 every once in a while. But they shoot 110 way more often. A 7 handicap's equivalent is shooting 74 every once in a while but... 86 way more often?
