Do I take the videos indoor or outdoor? When to take the videos and start lesson and when to begin the next lesson.. I'm quite a slow learner.. Any tips or experiences please help. I seriously need help.. I'm disgusted with my swing.

Take the video indoor or outdoor provided you have enough room to make a proper, unrestricted swing and use a ball, don't submit practice swings .

Make sure there's enough light to take good video and make sure your camera is properly positioned.

You should only upload a new swing when you've seen some significant progress on the piece you're working on or if you are stuck and need more guidance.

Your crappy swings and your awesome swings are very likely nearly identical.

They need to be full, regular swings with a ball, however, they don't need to be able to see the ball flight.  So if you're asking about indoors into a net, then thats fine, but if you're asking about a practice swing in your living room, then that isn't going to work.

Learning slow is good.  It will allow you to focus on one piece at a time.  No need to send in videos every week as long as you're still working on the same piece.  I probably averaged about one video submission every three weeks last year.

Once you think you're ready for the next piece or "stuck" on your current piece, then film and send in another video.

And do I send my very v bad swing or decent ones only

They're all basically the same - so it doesn't matter.  http://thesandtrap.com/t/80211/a-golfers-good-and-bad-swings-look-the-same-theyre-repeatable-and-consistent/0_30

Good luck!!!

I use foam practice balls into a net in my backyard.  It has worked well for me so far.  I also video myself between submissions to Evolvr to self-evaluate whether I'm making the changes that my instructor has given me...  Golf is hard.

@Play4Fun ,

I would add that you can send in videos from different parts of your game.  If you are working on a full iron swing priority piece, you can send in a pitch shot or sand shot while you are working on the full swing.  I have sent in putting, chip shots, pitch shots (short and long), sand shots (short and long), irons, fairway woods and driver (lots of driver videos BTW :-P ).

You get 4 uploads a month and sometimes it takes a month to work on your priority piece.  I have also sent in videos of the drill my instructor had me doing and not just the full swing.  I wanted to make sure I was doing the drill correctly.

But I don't send in 4 per month on average, especially this time of year.

Gasp. Does it take that long to become single handicap

Anecdote: got to about a 19 handicap after playing for about two years. That was 2008. I stopped lessons and bounced around 19 for a bit. I was a 19.0 on the 6/1/14 revision when I signed up for evolvr. By 9/15 I was a 15.1, and my club made me play as a 13 due to two great tournaments rounds over the summer. Then I stopped lessons for a bit due to non-golf parts of life. Now I'm back, I love my swing even more, and I can't wait to continue my progress. Just the same, nearly four strokes over a summer was fantastic.

On the other hand, my HI has gone up after starting Evolvr.  The good news is after about 4 months HI is starting to creep back down.  6 of the last 7 rounds are in my best 10 of 20 for my HI calculation.  I'm hopeful that in the next 10 - 15 rounds that there will be a several point drop in my HI.

Don't be surprised if your scores go up as you start to make swing changes.  Growing pains.

Hi, I commenced my evolvr journey just over 2 weeks ago. Although your swing is much better than mine, we both share the problem of not maintaining our centre pivot and subsequently overswinging. I can highly recommend the input you will receive from evolvr, their analysis and feedback are already working wonders on my swing......small steps it might be but I can see improvement with every range session. Good luck with your journey. Matt

    • Is it? I bought the Stack radar to replace my PRGR based on what Stack told me! When I am swinging for speed, the PRGR would miss 50%-80% of my backswings due to a higher speed. The stack seldom misses those- at least for me.
    • As an analyst by nature, I would like to compare the scores under both systems. It is something we can easily do if we have the data. I actually thought the new system was less fair to those whose game was on the decline - like mine! Old: Best 10 of last 20 scores with the .96 multiplier. Course handicap excluded course rating and overall par. New: Best 8/20. Course handicap includes course rating -par. My understanding is Stableford caps scores at Net double bogey like stroke play. If so, handicap should be slower to rise because you are only using 8 versus 10 scores. If I am missing something, I am curious enough to  want to understand what that may be. My home course tees that I play are 72.1/154 now. My best score out here is 82. When my game started to decline, my handicap didn’t budge for 13 rounds because of good scores in my first 8! I know I am an anomaly but my handicap has increased almost 80% in the past few years (with only a few rounds this year). For a few months I knew I was losing every bet because my game was nowhere near my handicap. I suspect I have steamrolled a few nuances but that shouldn’t matter much. When I have modeled this with someone playing the same tees and course, one good round, or return to form, will immediately reduce the handicap by some amount.
