From what the tracker says on the masters website it was a tee shot into the woods on the left, then three wood shank in the woods up ahead 100 yards then on the green about 48 feet away from pin, two putt, bogey.

Credit where it's due, that was a pretty good bogey. Could've easily been a double from where he was hitting 3.....

I think I'm ready to call this tournament for Speith, he's about to blow everyone out.

Oh no doubt. Plus, that's the second super risky moment of the day after he swung out of his shoes a couple holes ago to land it center green.

I think people forget or don't consider the slopes and bumps on the fairways at Augusta.. a perfect drive into the fairway for Tiger just now, sidehill lie looking at the hole....

Are you talking about 10?  The shot tracker has him in the bunker with his second shot.

Yeah, I mean the shot off the fairway he had that landed in the bunker. Bunker shot was his third.

I just tuned in and saw the replay of Tiger hitting that 9 Iron from the rough. That is a serious type of power  to pull that off with leg and back problems!! I think the muscle between the ears is starting to get strained for him.

I don't think they did the tracker right. At first, it showed the "1" in the 9th fairway, when it was actually in the 1st fairway. Now it shows in the rough/trees between the fairways- which it most definitely was not. The ball was actually where the red arrow is, I think, based on what I saw on TV. Maybe they can't account for a ball being in the "fairway" but the wrong fairway.  You tell a developer to do something and they'll do it literally. You forgot to tell them it's possible to hit another fairway, and you won't get that feature!

Pity to waste a nice drive then.

Without a doubt, but I never said I was being reasonable. :-D

TW is driving it well today! That's going to be a huge confidence booster for him. Just ripped it 320 on 11 but the pin position is tough, right next to the water.

I want to change my prediction for the contest for the set of Pure Grips. I had Spieth at -9.

Speith -9 after round one.

Speith -16 after round 2.

Speith -30 for the championship.

Speith for President in 2016!

He's having quite a few breaks with the driver as well - always helps!

Currently focusing on: Key 4 - shorter backswing.

    • Day 6: Worked with 6-iron, same stuff; neutral grip, centered turn. Feeling a bit lost right now, but have a lesson booked in about 10 days.
    • Day 222 (11 Dec 24) - weather came in about midday….son had an ortho appt mid morning….able to get in some work with the 54 and varied pitches. Used the tulip tree as the obstacle to clear….was able to work the face - normal face with the longer distances to more open with the tight short straight up and downs.
    • Great to hear!  Im trying (slowly) to get back out there and this community has been very helpful - FORE
    • Lessons.   I asked Erik this once and he said a good player could shoot a good score with less-than-adequate clubs.
    • So I have a son-in-law that I really like, and he plays.  Not great, averages 100-110 on a normal course.  For his birthday I got him a series of 5 lessons (he's never had lessons before) from a well-regarded local pro.  He hasn't started them yet.  For Christmas I am getting him a fitting and clubs from a local clubmaker with credentials and equipment out the wazoo:   And following the fitting I will be having the clubmaker make him 13 clubs (he already has a putter he really likes and putting is one of the better parts of his game).  I'll let the clubmaker and him work out how many 'woods', how many and which hybrids, how many and which irons, and how many and which wedges.  Other than paying I don't want to inject myself into the process. So my question for the board is which should happen first, the fitting/building of the clubs or the lessons?  I can see arguments on both sides and I just thought this would be a good place from which to get some input.  Thoughts?
