I vote yes. It would be great if they did like they did for the U.S Open last and and have the men and women play om back to back weekends.

To the issue is not how tough the course is or if the women can play at the men's tees etc.

The Masters is about tradition. It is play on the same course at nearly the same time every year. It is the first major of the year for the PGA.

The LPGA already has that and it is the ANA Inspiration (formerly the Dinah Shore).

"Founded in 1972 by entertainer Dinah Shore, the tournament has been classified as a major since 1983. Since its inception, it has been held annually at the Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage, California, southeast of Palm Springs. It is first major of the year, usually played in late March or early April. The current title sponsor is All Nippon Airways. IMG manages and operates the event for ANA."

They should go back to having the Dinah Shore name in their title like the The Dinah Shore Tournament presented by ANA etc.

If you treat the Dinah Shore like the Masters then the LPGA lines up very similar to the PGA in terms of majors.

The Evian Championship could be made to be like the Fedex Championship to the PGA at the end of the season.

So instead of trying use Augusta National to create a new major why not build up the Dinah Shore where you already have a rich history and in the years to come will become like the Masters is to the PGA.

To me what Paula is asking for is a real slap in the face to the Dinah Shore Tournament.

Does the LPGA have an event with a qualification system like the Masters? I think that is an important element of its mystique of top players from various golf sectors (U.S. & European pros & amateurs).

If they want that by all means they should institute it for one of their majors  But the do not need to play on Augusta National to do it.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

    • So no joke, last evening post work nine must have been the craziest side I've ever played: Bogey, double, double, par, birdie, birdie, birdie, double, birdie. Two gimme birdies, one 15 footer and one bonus bomb from prolly 35 feet on no. 9. Full disclosure, it's a super easy course when greens are running at an 8 with easy welcoming pins. Still, a couple of firsts there. Driver freed me up starting the fourth hole. Anyway, driver notes: 1) anti left left hand grip. 2) no structural bind on hands/grip. 3) left shoulder HAS to get up to chin with humerus completely detached from chest and shoulder socket (feel) Big game tomorrow, aiming to break 80.
