My new iron has picked up what I think is a ding on the face. Is this more a scratch or is it a gouge etc? You can feel it slightly with your nail and it's in between the 2 white lines.

It shouldn't affect the performance of you iron, but I can see it. I have lot's of things like those on my Mizuno clubs.

Good to see your clubs are getting some use. ;-)

Would say it's a scratch or a ding? Always thought a ding was like a dent.

Could be a crushed piece of sand might have gotten between the club face and the ball?

Should not be a problem. . .

You seem kinda paranoid about your clubs breaking. It's just a hunk of metal on a stick, no need to worry. What else would you expect to happen to an implement that repeatedly collides with the ground at 100mph?

Maybe you should send them back and see if a different set would be resistant to ferrules coming loose, normal wear on club face, or maybe just not use them and relish the fact that there new and shiny and flawless.

What are you going to complain about next?  Grips appear to have abnormalities???

It won't effect performance, just normal wear and tear. Little stuff like that tends to be magnified when clubs are new.

You'll pick up dings worse than that ... just get over it. You are using in clubs in dirt with pebbles and small rocks. Dings are a fact of life and part of playing the game.
