Who, in your opinion, is the better player, Mahan or Snedeker and why?

Please create polls when you ask poll-worthy questions.

I voted for Brandt. Hunter's fallen off since April/May.

I say Mahan. Nothing about Snedekers game impresses me.

If we're going by the present, I'll go with Brandt. He's actually done something this year. Is Hunter Mahan still even playing?

Sneeeeedeker..... Pretty average in most stats, but still manages a top 10 in scoring average. He just finds a way to get the ball in the hole. That's what this game is all about.

+1.. Can't argue with that at all. Plus he is a fun putter. It's not often I mention 'fun' and 'putter' in the same post let alone same sentence.

Neither are at the top of their games now. 2012-13 was their high point. They are both kind of dull to watch maybe they could play a match to help me decide. I suppose since BS won the FedEx Cup I will pick him.

Sneds has at least had a somewhat decent year. Won at Pebble, contended in a number of tournaments, including the US Open. I can't remember Mahan even showing up on a weekend leaderboard once this year.

Mahan is one of those guys that I feel could be better but doesn't want to work that hard at it and is content with the income he's making.  I obviously don't know him or have any insight if it's true but it's a feeling I get whenever I see him on the course or doing interviews, maybe he's just California cool.

Honestly if not for the Ace Hardware commercials I would have forgotten about HM. Looking at his site he's played in 20 2015 events and made the cut 17 times. I don't watch much golf so I don't hear anything about the middle of the pack guys. If you didn't know golf the media would have you believing there are only 4 golfers Tiger Rory Rickie and Jordan.

I believe Hunter was working on some different things with his short game.  Remember him talking on the golf channel about it a year or so ago and just seems he has not played well since.  Sort of like Luke Donald when he changed coaches to try and get better with his Driver.  Sometimes I think these guys overthink too much when it comes to changing things up to get better results when they were doing pretty well before.  I know many want to win more (especially majors), but unless your name is Tiger Woods messing with your game is a big gamble at that level.

Back to Hunter, also seems like his game has suffered since he started a family. Not saying that is a bad thing, but my guess is his family obligations have taken away from his time with golf like it has done for so many other pros as well.

Seems Sned is the better player today, but I think Hunter has an overall better game when he is playing well.

Hunter's short game tune up goes all the way back to preparing for the 2014 Ryder Cup. A lot of those that played well a couple years ago have faded away from leaderboards. You could make this comparison with any number of guys not doing much. Keegan Dufner BS TM Webb Poulter Carl Pettersson Bo Van Pelt sorta maybe Oosthuizen ... When I was into fantasy golf these were regular picks.

Snedeker.

7 wins to 6. He won the Fed Ex and has a slightly better major performance history. He is a better putter. Mahan shows a history of choking more than Snedeker. Brandt is the better player.

    • Thanks but honestly… I don't know any other way. I don't mind being wrong so long as I know where to go from there. I don't like being wrong — I'd love to get things right (which is different than "being right"). I recommend grabbing a furniture slider or a paper plate or something, and doing something like this: First, make a swing where you let your trail foot swing out as you turn, then twist that foot back in. From DL and FO, it'll look like this: Then, during a regular backswing, try to twist your foot in slightly (demonstrated in the left image): You'll notice a crease along the trail side of your hip, your pelvis will "fold" into that thigh (internal rotation of the hip joint), and your "bits" will be squished a little between your pelvis and your thigh. Ben Hogan said once: "At the top of the back swing the groin muscle on the inside of your rt [sic] leg near your right nut will tighten," Hogan wrote. "This subtle feeling of tightness there tells you that you have made the correct move back from the ball." I don't know about that, but you will probably feel something down around that area.
    • Yep. I think it will start to feel even more athletic when we start on the downswing stuff later.  I know, it's just I want to be younger so I have more time to enjoy the changes. 🙂
    • I need to drop a couple of stone. 🙂 😛    Yep. Yeah, but in the end, it feels more athletic, like you're actually using your legs, yeah? As you know… we use the best available info we have. Like others, I was fooled a little by 2D images for awhile (moving or still). Unlike others, I've learned and grown and moved on since then, while they're still looking at their images (often from lousy camera angles).
