This looks stocked w/everything one would need, but very expensive. Surprised it took so long for something like this to open in the area. I prefer Golf Evolution though, any day. ;-)

It lists Foley and Leitz as "advisors", so I'm guessing they're just stopping in once in a blue moon.

I'm not sure I could afford to breathe the air there. Let alone anything else. Kind of funny that only two out of the nine people depicted on the home page are doing anything related to golf. Sort of looks like its 1/3 social club, 1/3 gym and 1/3 golf practice facility.

The only reason I noticed it. Morbid juxtaposition of words there, huh?

I'm a few blocks away right now, work in Midtown, and I have zero interest.

It looks too foofy for my taste, sport coats and golf simulators? no thanks, but I'm not a fan of sims to begin with.

No disagreement from me there. I prefer something more down to earth, like Golf Evolution, not far from me. For the winter time when it's too cold and I'm going stir crazy.

There's an indoor facility on 39th between 6th and Broadway that is just golf....and a bar.

Groupons all the time too.....off season I'll hit balls there a couple times a week.

It's not bad, I wish it had Flightscope or Trackman though.  Hard to get a face on video too.

Looking through the site, there's not one woman pictured unless she's part of staff. No minorities. I get it, it's gunning for the same demographic as members of Winged Foot, etc... Still. If it becomes a social hotspot to grease the wheels, wouldn't doubt its longevity.

There's at least one playing the simulator in the background of the home page pic. Along with one standing and one sitting on the couch.

Buddy said it's 5k initiation and 7.5k annual dues. If it's your only chance to "play" any golf living in the city it's not the most unreasonable price for those who know NYC pricing.

Those dues are more than my 27 hole club, one of the harder courses in Western PA. But the economics are different here.

It's not your ONLY chance to play in the city, At least 2 or 3 courses in every borough OTHER than Manhattan. It's more like, "I don't wish to mix with the riff-raff at a city course, so I'll "play" for a ridiculous price to hang with my white rich friends"

At least 2 or 3 courses in every borough OTHER than Manhattan.

As I understand it, in the general vernacular, "the city" is specifically referencing only Manhattan.

Yup, my home course growing up was Douglaston Park in Queens.  I also played Clearview quite a bit and Kissena a few times.  Sadly I never played Dyker Beach not Forest Park, both of which were always touted as being the best in the city to me.

Wow, getting up at 5:00 AM on a summer weekday, Mom, driving me to the course.  Pay my $2.50 green fee and get the receipt with the number on it.  Take it to the starter blackboard outside where a park service employee is is setting up the groups and tee-off schedule.  You give him your receipt and he figures out what group you will play in.  Then the wait.  Generally at least an  hour or two.  Then the round, at least 5 hours on a short, hilly course that had no carts.  By the end of the summer my calves were like rocks.  Finish up the round and check the wait time and probably plunk down another $2.50 for a second round.  Off to the counter inside for a greasy cheeseburger while waiting to get back out.  A second round, which I always played against my first round, a call to Mom to come get me, and a perfect summer day for a 15 year kid is completed.

Ah, good times.

But then again, what the hell do I know?

    • They sure do. 158 with an 8 iron is on the high end for me
    • Went back to controlling my knees. That part was getting a bit sloppy when I worked on my backswing. Right hip didn't slide or gain internal rotation. I would just rotate back and around and the left knee would be in a bad spot. Really focusing now on keeping my left knee very stable and straighter in the backswing. I can't go back to the old pattern of overturning the hips. I was returning to my old pattern to time my downswing. Turn forever.  Left knee controls both knees and hips, acting as an anchor. Feel like it straightens a bit.   Hinge sooner and faster. Not in a way that sends the hands out and flips the club over. I still noticed when the hands get to A2.5, the hands would want to flip over and flatten the club out a ton.  Still trying to figure out how to roll the forearms a bit open and not just roll the club inside a ton.  Figure out the timing to get the hands down. Still getting a bit of right elbow collapsing in the downswing because the arms are too high when I turn. Everything is happening sooner now. If the hips are controlled, the backswing is shortened. Because it is shortened I don't know when to get the hands down and I just turn because the downswing is a go.  Very slow (50%) swings are decent.
    • Distances look fine, no?
    • Day 207-12 Wider backswing and arm reconnecting in downswing. Did a much better job with proper wrist movements through downswing today.
